Katsu Takuraha
Age: 19 Gender: Male Orientation: Straight Hometown: Jubilife City, Sinnoh
Appearance:
Somewhere a hair above average, Katsu sports a height of 5'10", just a few inches shy of the six foot mark, something that he isn't exactly thrilled about. But despite this slight deficiency in height, he is almost always wearing a smile on his face, or even more common than that is a grin that is practically trademarked. Nearly every person he sees is treated to the sight of his pearly-whites, whether they want to see them or not. His skin is darker than most, due to the fact that he's spent a great majority of his time outside. He's got a solid tan, though his back and shoulders are a bit lighter, as he does occasionally work with his shirt still on. The sunlight, of course, has also caused his hair to lighten several shades, and it has become a light, almost golden brown. Though not long by any means, it's grown out enough to stand up on end after a fitful night of sleep, and he generally uses his fingers to comb through it, leaving it looking rather wild, most of the time. His teal eyes are quite noticeable, as they often shine with every grin he throws around, which is virtually nonstop. His general outfit consists of a pair of old, used jeans and a while short-sleeved shirt sporting the logo of his father's shop on the back. A pair of used work gloves covers his hands, and a similar style of work boots cover his feet, giving him a farmer-like appearance, though he knows as much about farming as he does about pokemon, which is fairly little. Occasionally a backwards cap will sit on his head, but only if he remembers to wear it. From the hard work that he's put in over his life, he's got a fairly decent build, and tends to sport it off in any way he can to garner attention.
Personality:
The young Katsu is something of a womanizer, and doesn't hesitate to turn on the charms and use his rather impressive physique in conjunction with it. He hits on pretty much any girl that moves near him, and he's been known to start on older women too, without any real pretense. He doesn't really know what's beyond that initial stage, though, as he hasn't ever had much luck beyond the first date or two. Also around people with pokemon, and the pokemon in general, he tends to look rather dumb, as he doesn't know much about them, at all. Most of what he knows is from what he's caught on television, which isn't much more than a few of the obvious type advantages (e.g. the Fire, Water, Grass circle.) He does what he can to not look like a complete idiot…but it doesn't always work out for him, in the end. However, he is also a rather fast learner. If he's given a proper teacher, or at least someone who might be able to give him a few pointers, he will pick up new ideas and concepts very quickly. Despite being a city boy without a whole lot of worldly knowledge, he is fairly intelligent, overall. Granted, he tends to hide the fact that he is, as he doesn't want to push away any girls that don't much care for clever guys. Granted, if the girl likes a smart guy, then he has no problem putting on the intelligent charm.
Likes: Women, girls, ladies, traveling Dislikes: Aggressive boyfriends, girls who play hard-to-get, being made a fool of.
History:
Katsu was born into a family that actually had very little to do with pokemon. His father owned one of the many shops in Jubilife City, and even then it mainly sold items for people, rather than for pokemon. As soon as he was old enough, he was helping out with the shop, running deliveries of the smaller items, cleaning around the store, et cetera. He saw other families with pokemon, but had never really taken any interest in them, himself, as his own family didn't have a single one to their name. He didn't exactly know why his father didn't use pokemon, and he had overheard his father and mother often talking, and occasionally arguing, about this fact. His mother had helped in a breeding lab when she was younger, and had a certain fondness for the creatures. But his father continued to deny them presence in his house, not giving a reason for it, other than the fact that they “weren't needed.” That was never enough for his mother, and a few months after he turned twelve, she left, leaving him alone with his father. The relationship between him and his father grew a little strained after this event, but gradually the strain began to fade, and the two became rather close. Still, he never found out what it was that kept his father from enjoying the company of pokemon, but the boy had enough respect for him that he never asked. The fact was simply that the pokemon were not allowed in the shop, and the only way he even allowed customers to carry them in was if they were in a pokeball. As he grew, he began taking on more jobs for his father, doing larger deliveries and other such things with his father, moving the larger objects. Though they could've easily used a Machop or any of the other stronger pokemon, his father steadfastly refused to do so. Katsu never questioned his father, not once, and when the people asked him why he didn't use a pokemon for the heavy lifting, Katsu would just shrug with a grin and ask ‘why?' He couldn't give them a good, solid reason, and thus he would just make something up, or blow it off entirely. Around eighteen, he finally got clearance from his old man to take the large orders across the seas, and about that time, he found a certain freedom in being out from under his father's rule. About this time, he began to realize there was also a life outside of the shop, and his mind steadily began to broaden. It wasn't too long before he began to question his father, and though he still worked with him, there was slowly the creation of tension between the two men. On his most recent delivery he was called to travel to the recently-discovered region of Sousei, and deliver a desk to someone called the "Commander of Ambience". After he had successfully dropped off the desk, Katsu came across a man offering several pokemon for sale. The boy, seeing a chance to escape the fate that his father had fallen into, purchased two pokemon with the money he'd received from the delivery of the desk. He sent a letter back on the ship to his father, and used a bit more of the money to purchase his starting supplies. He was gonna be a trainer!
