Yes! Yes! Our books just arrived today via two different delivery systems (don't ask me, I sure don't get it)!

*dances about the room*

Don't worry, Ravenlofters, I won't be throwing the books at you....

Yet...

Sometimes you just have to burn the card fate dealt you.

Well we DL'd the pdfs over the weekend and spent a while looking at them there, but reading the actual books is way better. :P

For those of you toying with converting your characters to 4e, there's an article here that gives you tips on doing so.

Dammit, DW, just 'cause you were born in time only to see the last edition doesn't mean us old-timers have to stick with it! :P

Err.. I'm sure I'm not going to like the answer, but how long has it been since 2e became obsolete?? Surely not that long ago, it was used in the BG game series, and that was only er... oh.. :o

Still haven't managed to read it yet. I used to only need about an hour to absorb the basics, but these days, I don't get more than 5 minutes before being dragged away by something or other.

I can't remember the last time I finished a book..!

- that said, I've managed to finish a few computer games still, so maybe it's a matter of priorities

3e came out in 2000, so I may have exaggerated a little bit...

Just a little. ;)

Hmmmmmm........ I play a MotrD 2nd edition game and it's awesome! Like Dw I won't bother with 4e only because there is enough info on 3.5 to play. PLus I have more 2nd ed books that 3.5 ;)

The 4th edition has made the wizards very weak and the spells...grrr are totally different! Invisibility is in 16th level! Mirror image in 12! Lightingbolt is not a line! Magic missile can miss! Those are some examples on the top of my mind. I adore playing wizards but I doubt I'll play one in this edition. Same with fighters, I preferred them in 3.5. So with only a few exceptions I'll keep playing only 3.5 ;)

When they said they're not releasing the kind of SRD that we had for 3.5e, that you could actually make a character and run a game from, they've lost me. I'm not buying the books just so I can play!

Anyway, I'm more into Naruto D20 nowadays.

I understand wanting to try it before you buy it. An easy and free way to try out the game is to download the new adventure they released in the latest Dungeon magasine called 'Heathen' and the character sheets that came from Keep on the Shadowfell. I went to a Game Day on June 7 in town here and had a blast; it was actually fun to play first level characters for once. Don't knock it till you've actually tried it -afterwards, then hey, be my guest. :P

Wizards are not weak; our wizard helped to save our sorry asses in the big battle. The wizard is weaker than 3e, but then the wizard was broken there. He is not only still useful to the party - he is useful at the early levels. THAT is nothing to sneeze at.

I remember the naysayers when they introduced horseless carriages. No, they said, travelling over 30mph is bad for your, makes all your organs move about inside you they said.

They came around eventually. The naysayers that is, not the internal organs.

And they were right too... I still say this infernal combustion engine is a passing fad, kinda like betamax, and soon we'll all be back on the gee gees. ;)

I read that the 4e has some new, improved, 4.0 monsters that no one has even thought of before.
