I'm taking my bike to be serviced on Monday. I have a Buell sportsbike, this means a lightweight, quick, precision engineered bit of kit for which the standard attire is a trackday style leather suit, with knee sliders and random other sporty things, and a full face helmet. Kind of like a blue and black leather clad version of the Stig.

Buell are owned by Harley, and most Buell dealers are Harley dealers with a corner dedicated to these mental street racers, as is the dealer I'm taking my pride and joy to.

They have just informed me that all of their courtesy bikes are Harley Davidsons. This means that I shall be spending Monday, riding to and from work, on a flaming HD. Moi. On a hog.

I'm horrified at the thought of riding one of the slow, ungainly, ugly, poorly handling, agricultural monstrosities, but worse still - How ghey is that?? :ph43r:

I feel like I should be growing a moustache and buying some leather trousers for the day...

Come ON! The Harley is THE Bike, for all time! :D

Pretty little bikes like the Buells are for metrosexuals. :P

Sometimes you just have to burn the card fate dealt you.

Well, if you have so much problem with the Harley Cas you can always give it to me, I'll be more than happy to buy the accessories needed to ride one ;)

I've been getting that suggestion from the bikers at work. There isn't a lot of love for Harleys Gayvidsons amongst us sport bike 'metrosexuals' (thanks Pammy... <_< )

@ssless chaps aren't exactly decent safety exuipment if you come off though eh? Ooooh... :blink:

You're welcome. :P

Seriously, it must be a national thing - back home the Harley's got a serious reputation, but then we also have Hell's Angels in both the US and Canada, so...

We got Hells Angels too Pammy, big fat guys with beards who shoot each other periodically..

Doesn't mean they ride cool bikes!!

Anyway, I'm just back from a ride on my borrowed hog. It's almost the bottom of the range, but it's kind of okay, better than I thought. Not too much chrome and I can live with the paint.. identical to this;

Anyway, here's a review (even though I know I'm the only biker);

No power compared to Buell despite the engines having a similar origin, the brakes need a few hundred metres warning before you haul them on, and I keep missing the footpegs because they are too far forward compared to my rearsets.

However - on the plus side, it's the comfiest motorcycle I've ever ridden, and at slow speeds in heavy traffic, it actually handles really well. More power and it could be a great sunday afternoon cruiser. The other good thing is, it's safer despite the rubbish brakes, because you don't feel compelled to hit three figures if you find yourself with a yard or two of empty tarmac, and in a lot of situations overtaking is out of the question. Swings into turns in a really satisfying way, and due to the wind and the vibration, 70mph is really exciting, to get the same feeling on mine you need to be breaking a ton.

So actually, not so bad. Just a totally different take on what makes a decent bike.

When I turned up to drop off my keys and pick up the HD the music in the dealer was... Frankie goes to Hollywood. Seriously. I thought they were taking the mick and had seen me pull up. Plus, never have I seen so many 'taches.

You see, if I was going to ride a bike it would be that type... Or ideally one of those ones that looks like a couch on two wheels.

Was it like that scene in Police Academy where they ended up in the Blue Oyster bar? :P

I haven't seen that movie hahahahaahahaha! But it is the same idea as Wayne's World 2 where they end up in a man only bar?
