I know it's strange for a woman to be interested in sports, but well I'm an exception! :P

I haven't seen all the matches of course, more Italy since I'm here...but I do believe Brazil and Spain are the favourites.

It's not strange at all!

I know it's over now, but I've only just read this post - It's not had a lot of coverage here. Kind of like an international version of the Intertoto right - not really taken seriously by all the teams.. but it's footie, and footie is interesting (even though I've got my cricket head on now).

Not really sure of the point of it other than as a nice warm up for some of the teams and a chance for the smaller teams to get some good experience against the likes of Spain and Brazil..

Didn't get any coverage though I've seen some highlights - was it any good?

Sometimes you just have to burn the card fate dealt you.

Actually it was pretty good.

Spain looked impressive in the early rounds, but then awesomely lost to the USA, and the final was pretty damn good as well.

I hate not having football around on a Sunday afternoon... <_<

Hockey.

They play that in the inbred town down the road. 'Cannock'. Apparently half their team play for England, but I don't think it's that ice bound job you canadians are on about.

It's a girls game anyway, in whatever incarnation. ;)

Before you send a link to youtube vids of blokes knocking seven shades out of each other, with sticks I'd like to point out that they are wearing a large amount of armour. Give me rugby, a sport where eye gouging doesn't get you banned for life in international games, it just gets you told off, sin binned for a while. Those are the international games too, where they are being well behaved. A true sport for gentlemen. :D
