Battle of Alsakan

The Battle of Alsakan was the last decisive engagement of the Great Civil War. The rebels had been rapidly gaining momentum in the war, cutting off whole Revanite sectors and paving the way for a battle in the Core. System governments began deserting Revan, leaving many fronts wide open. Despite this, the Revanites still controlled sizable forces in the Core and held all the hyperspace lanes leading to the capital.

Rebel forces launched an assault at Corellia, leading Revan and his followers to commit the bulk of their Core armada to reinforcing the valuable system. However, the great Sith strategist had finally been outmaneuvered. Three minor noble families from Duro, Corellia, and Alsakan had conspired to betray the Revanites and leave them vulnerable to a rebel push. All three families, the Zhug, Antilles, and Venir, had helped to create and fund rebel cells on their respective planets. When the time was right, these cells began wreaking havoc.

As soon as the Revanite reinforcements were dispatched, the rebels worked to jam all outside communications in the Corellia system. This left their enemy unaware of both the riots occurring on Alsakan and the rebel fleet that soon arrived to help the guerrillas. As soon as Revan learned what happened, he broke off the majority of his fleet at Corellia to hurry back to Alsakan. This proved a disaster as the rebels now controlled Alsakan's defenses and the Revanites took serious casualties just attempting to retake the orbit. Still, the battle might have ended differently if Revan and his closest advisors had not mysteriously vanished during the naval action.

No one knows what happened to the Sith Lord. Some say fearing the inevitable he fled, others believe he attempted some Dark Side ritual to take command of the battle and caused everyone around him to perish. Regardless, with their leader and the outcome of the war clear most of the Revanies surrendered and the rebels took Coruscant with no resistance.
