This post is to articulate what Criminal characters can expect. Star Wars has a rather simplified view of crime and criminals, boiling down to them being colorful but kindhearted rogues or evil, exploitative, treacherous, and often cowardly scumbags. I'll still probably simplify crime and criminals to certain dynamics, but the characters or the themes will not one-dimensional.

Crime for the most part occurs as an alternative economy where regular opportunities are not as plentiful or do not exist at all. There are of course destructive personalities that take advantage of this chaotic situation, but most career criminals are motivated by money mostly, with some pressure brought on by family and community needs as well as personal reputation and recognition. It is the economic need that leads to crime networks and black markets, and this is what you'll be often exposed to.

Crime networks usually fall into rackets, which in the Star Wars universe usually consist of spice (drug) harvesting and trafficking, slavery, piracy, smuggling, and occasionally slicing (hacking). As you can see in the Starting Feats section there are a few others available, so I will try to cover all bases. All, however, will be affected by whatever market they most serve and events will proceed according to the status of those markets - which you can often affect yourself.
