The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are famous. In the twentieth century, the second most read book in the entire world was The Lord of the Rings. The most read being the King James Version of the Bible. When you first look at the books all you can probably say is "Wow, that would take a long time to read !" You would think so, but I read them in a month, I think, maybe two. The Lord of the Rings was originally made as a trilogy The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King because printing the entire story together was too expensive at the time. The Hobbit is a prequel to the trilogy. Altogether, the four books have around one thousand, two hundred pages. A lot, right ? You won't remember thinking it was long after you read it. J. R. R. Tolkien was one of the greatest authors ever, his way of writing gives you a vivid mental picture of the characters and the scenes and makes you feel like you actually know this place and its people personally. Its a very exciting, emotional, and inspiring story. If you ever have to do a book report on any book or just wish you had something good to read I definitely recommend entering the exhilarating world of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Regardless of age, religion, or favorite reading genre you will get interested in these books. ;) |

That's awesome ! What chapter are you in ? I've been reading it to my little brother a little every night. If you haven't seen the Lord of the Rings movies you might want to watch them to help you get interested in it. The more interested in a book you are the quicker you can read it. I read The Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy in about a month or two. That's around one thousand, two hundred pages ! |

Yeah, I guess you better get back to reading. You're at a super cool part, though. Its almost at the time that Bilbo Baggins proves his worth to the dwarves. Let me know if there's any way I can help you with it. I know the book well. Are you finding it interesting ? |

If you don't finish it in time, which I sure hope you do, maybe I can write you a good summary of whatever you don't make it to. ;) What will you have to do; a book report, answer some questions on it, or just discuss it in class ? |

I think I'm gonna have a test on it. Last year, I had to read Nothing but the Truth (by Avi), and we had a test on it. I really do book reports anymore... XD XD XD YAY! And I WILL finish it, no matter what! |

Oh really, what are the questions like ? Are they about recalling part of the story or those stupid things like "What do you think think the author meant by (some weird phrase) in (part of the book) ?" I hate those. > <
Oh yeah, you need to. For your own enjoyment as well as to do well on your test. |
