Since I saw Spirit Tracks being brought up...it makes me sad no one likes the train, because Spirit Tracks did a lot of things we haven't seen before (...including trains). Byrne was pretty unique for a character, not spoiling why, but no other character in the universe has had a role quite like him (as far as I'm aware). Also, it was the first game where Zelda got a -lot- of characterization, which was great considering she hardly has a presence in some games. I mean, she's there and important, but not really accessible. Rant aside, I bought BlazBlue for the 3DS. It's great; I love seeing how fighting games are becoming so popular for the 3DS already. |

I'm not too big into fighters but it certainly is good to see the support. Have you posted your 3DS friend code yet? |

Excellent choice, I did the same so we get $20 credit towards our next 3DS game purchase on Amazon! :) Such a pleasant surprise that I think I'm going to buy all my new games from Amazon now (they gave me game credits for getting Pokemon Black and my 3DS from them too so I already got PilotWings for free :) ) |

Bought Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Munch's Oddysee at the tail end of this steam sale. Also got Alien Breed 2 as one of my rewards. I didn't go all buy happy this steam sale like I usually do, but for $7.57 I was able to get(rewards included): -Golden Ship for Beat Hazard -Beat Hazard Ultra DLC -Steampunk Killing Floor characters -Alien Breed 2 -Munch's Oddysee -Stranger's Wrath Pretty good sale IMO! Only thing I regret is not getting the DLC when it was EVEN cheaper. |

I was browsing through the eshop today and noticed a DSiware game thats about a year old and I had never heard of called Soul of Darkness. It looked really cool, like a castlevania clone, so I did some research on it and found out it is quite good for its price. The new eShop is really miles better than the DSishop and Wii Shop Channel, it helped me find a game I never heard of that is kinda old(by the shop standards) that I probably would have never heard of if I was only relying on the DSi Shop. It only cost $5. I haven't played it yet so I can't recommend it, however the sources I've read can recommend it if you're a fan of Castlevania. I'm going to have a crack at it now! I also downloaded Game and Watch and Kirby. I have $.750ish left so I'll probably save it for next week and see what they update. |

I got the Genesis Collection 4 from GG. 10 Genesis games for less than $4. It's hitting me now more than ever that VC is a rip off. |

I wouldn't necessarily say its a total rip off. I just think that the Wii VC needs to take on a new model. The 3DS VC has an excellent model where the Gameboy games don't all share the same price. For example, a top tier title like The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening DX is $5.99, while a top tier Gameboy game such as Super Mario Land is $4, and then bottom tier games cost about roughly $3. I think these classic games need to be priced based on quality and value. On the VC I have no problem paying $5 for Super Mario Bros. Its an excellent game that plays fantastically and has great replay value for me. However, then comes along an NES game such as Pinball, or even a game like Donkey Kong Jr which could be priced a tad lower at $5. |

If the prices were much lower then I'd be fine with it. I feel VC game prices are too high in comparison to every other service. On PSN you can get PS1 games for $6 to $10. On GOG I can get Rayman 2 for $6, and if it was on VC it would be $10. Also on GOG, I could get Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 together for $6, while on VC the Genesis versions of 1 and 2 are $8 each. There's also the fact that to buy anything on the Shop Channel you have to spend a minimum of $10. If you want something that's only a little above that, then you have to spend $20. Plus, the Genesis games I got from GG and anything you get on GOG is DRM free, while VC games are locked onto the system. Basically, every other DD service I use is much better than the Wii Shop. Also, they almost had the right idea with the 3DS Shop, but they made it so that you always have change leftover. What's the point? |

Don't get me wrong, the Wii Shop is FAR from perfect is more ways than one, and I agree with most of your points. I just feel that there is a vast amount of great titles that are worth the prices they were given. However, given the model that they use, it allows a lot of mediocre games(or games that just aren't as good) to be over priced. Also the lack of sales is never good. Since the Shop has existed I believe there has only been one sale. I'm hoping this changes with the eShop. Like all the services, you just have to be a smart shopper. There are games that you should most certainly buy on PC, but then there are your fair share of titles that are good to buy on the Wii. Such as the Final Fantasy games(After Years not included) or Zeldas. Also, thankfully on the eShop your minimum purchase can now be $5, which puts it on par with the PSN and XBLA as far as that goes. |
