10 A quick attack and drill peck was all that was needed to put the Altaria out of its misery. But it would be fair to note that thanks to its newfound strength and speed, it was able to take down Pidgeot before it was struck down by Fearow. It wasn't a particularly emotional goodbye between Tails and Reeve. Reeve decided he and his crew wouldn't go after the legendary birds again after having their rear ends handed to them by those birds one day, then Tails the next. But rumors are always traveling the winds and while his crew was mending the battle broken deck, he took to the helm of the ship himself and sailed off to his next destination. The feeling was mutual, and neither party caught themselves any birds. Maybe it was for the better. But just like any wanderer, Tails' journey wasn't over yet. He still had seven of those orbs to find. After Reeve and the others dropped him off at the main island of One Island, he went to the pokemon center to give his pokemon a much needed rest. An hour passed until they were back up to speed. From there, Tails bid farewell to Nurse Joy, then flew off to find those other orbs for Shippo. It was a long journey that Tails had no desire to repeat. After a week and searching the regions far and wide twice over, Tails could only find six of those remaining orbs. One was at Mount Silver in Jhoto. It made sense. A memory struck through Tails' mind when he picked that orb up. The theft of Shippo's egg brought him there the first time, then again when Ransai led Snagem to believe he was with those Illusia ninja. When he thought Kitsune died when she saved everyone from the leader of Illusia, he was broken. He remembered how foolish he was when he tried to jump after Kitsune into the pit of the volcano he only visited a few days earlier. But all things have a habit of working out well in the end. The Victory road in Hoenn was the site of the second orb. Tails had to battle a trainer with a Ninetales for the right to take it. After he explained the situation to her, she conceded and let Tails have it. The third and fourth orbs were found at Ecruteak City. One was on the top of the Tin Tower. While there was another Ho-oh there, it was peaceful and didn't mind when Tails absconded with the orb, meekly, in its presence. He had enough trouble with birds to last his tastes for a while. The other was in an old, dilapidated mansion in the forests north of Ecruteak. He had to traverse a muddy swamp, and he felt so thankful for his tails then. It was only his shoes that accumulated any amount of mud. And the mansion told the story of great distinction from its rustic furniture and exquisitely painted portraits of a dark skinned aristocrat and his two Ninetales. Following that pattern, Tails searched the regions for sites of other Vulpix breeding grounds. That search brought him first to an encyclopedia in a library in Saffron, then back to Hoenn. Mount Pyre, the mark of pokemon, living and dead, as well as the legendary Kyogre and Groudon was where he found the fifth orb on the fifth day of his travels. It took him three more days to find the sixth orb at Cinnabar's own run down mansion. After fending off hoards of fire pokemon like Vulpix, Growlithe and a few Muk (much to his dismay; those Muk brought back memories of being manhandled by his own. That was before Diaruga had its hissy), he found it beside a notebook on a table on the second floor. His curiosity brought him to read it over. The author wrote notes about a Pokemon found in an area called South Africa. It was the mother of all pokemon, and through its DNA, the ultimate fighting Pokemon was birthed. Shadow should meet that Pokemon. They could beat each other up for the title of ultimate life form. After leaving, both Tails and Pidgeot were pretty irritable. As much as they both loved to fly, there was a limit as to how much anyone could take. So instead of combing the Earth for the final orb, he decided to change his direction and return to HQ in Orre to check on Shippo and Ransai. Little did he know that the place was very empty, with the sole exclusion of Shippo and Ransai. ZE END. Author's note again: This chapter was largely filler. For the RP story, that is. Shippo does, in fact, move on to the next life later on in the RP story. ;.; Also, it's been empty at the Orre building because the team moved to Celadon while Tails was away during this adventure. Ah well. C'est la vie. Word Count: 16945 Character Count: 91288 |
