And we'll need an update eventually on newer consoles. Sure, sure, we can play this one forever, but a new twist is always nice, even if, like Einar said it may take a decade or so.

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
Actually it was officially stated at one point that this would be the last Smash Bros. game...I forgot when though.

And if what Gamma says is true (I haven't read the interview, and I don't have much interest in it) then it probably will be.

Who knows though...besides, it not like Nintendo doesn't have any other series that bring in money.

Still don't believe it. In the game industry "never" doesn't exist... If there is money in it, they will go for it.

Nintendo probably is betting it will sell but not a ton based on Wii's main audience.

Like I said, who knows. Frankly it wouldn't kill me if there wasn't another Smash Bros.

But never does exist...for the most part. There are a bunch of demanded sequels that companies have yet to make. (Demanded for generations too.)

Maybe but we are talking about Nintendo here. The company that churns out the same game over and over and get people to buy it every time!

As Dragon said, you can never be certain, many comments have been made about many things that have been taken back. I doubt we'll get a Smash Bros anytime soon, but just because Nintendo says it won't happen, doesn't mean they won't change their mind. We were suppossed to get a Kirby game on the Wii soon, and Metroid Dread was suppossed to come, they mysteriously disapeared, why can't a 4th Smash Bros game mysteriously appear XD?

I agree that people will deffinitely want a new Smash in a decade or so, and because of the demand Nintendo might make another, but if this were to happen things would be a bit different without Sakurai behind it.

Considering the amount of time and effort that has been put in this game, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this is the series' swan song. I'm not sure how anyone could expect to top such an effort. As Sakurai mentioned in the "Iwata Asks" interview, there had to be some major decisions made in terms of keeping home and work closely tied together. You can't expect anyone to do something like that everytime you want a game to be made, and apparently, this project couldn't have been what it is without such actions.

Therefore, I say that if you can't find a way to top it, why not leave well enough alone? A problem I have with a lot of franchises nowadays is that the moment someone realizes that a certain game is a hint, they can't wait to make a sequel or two for it. Sometimes, it is best to let something like this go, and I believe Nintendo understands this. If anyone has the portfolio to overcome a loss of a big-name, such as SSB, it's the Big-N.

Bottom line with this is, money. If there is money in it they will make it. I mean I bet its pretty obvious to all of us nearly all of the money they are spending to make the game is going to the development team because of its sheer size right?

That being the case they need to throw more at the game then their usual endeavors. That being true the chance of a sequel is entirely in the hands of the consumer.

In short this is the same situation Earthbound was in in 95'. They threw a lot of money at it and if it flops the old saying "burn me once, shame on you" takes effect in their eyes.

Nintendo will make their money back on this game. But the question will they make enough to warrant its creation will determine the likely hood of a sequel. Cause as I said this is Nintendo the company who will package the same game over and over without a second thought.

On the note of Sakurai, IMO he is getting a lot of undeserving credit. I mean I really can't think of a thing in Brawl that hasn't been done in another game.
