Today's update is the "Vault" which basically is home to all the special features of Brawl. Such as challenges, trophies, stickers, master peices, custom levels, ect, ect. The update basically went into detail on each option, so nothing really that new, however just some expanded info. However, one new option was revealed. It is known as "Chronicle". It's basically a long list of Nintendo games, which titles become available as you collect stickers and trophies.

Look closely at the screenshots in today's lengthy update to notice more. One thing I noticed is to get the Kapp'n trophy you have to swim a combined total of more than 300ft for all characters. So characters will be able to swim in one of the modes or maybe even in a stage. This is interesting, guess this means Sonic will be bringing his life-vest from Mario & Sonic Olympics along for the Brawl. Or maybe Sonic can just run over the top of the water or maybe he sinks and navigates the area the way he does in the Sonic games.
And about the Chronicles, I wonder if every game that was published by Nintendo is included, or every game on a Nintendo system, or just every game that has some sort of appearance in Brawl (sticker, trophy, assist, etc., etc.) He wasn't very clear about that.
I like how Sakurai admits to going overboard with putting so much in the game XD And I think when he said "But still, it’s not like I want everyone to play through every single portion of the game. I think I’d rather you played small portions of the areas you find interesting a little at a time." what he really means is there's so much in this game that no one will be able to do everything. Sure there's always that one person out there somewhere, but seriously, who can honestly say that they've gotten all of the special messages in Melee?

There could just be a stage with water in the adventure. And probably a few stages too, I doubt there's a mode just for swimming, but you never know.

I don't care if its "awesome", I just don't want it to be lazy. Telling me something I already know in an "update" isn't an "update.

Well it's not being lazy, work went into that update. There was in fact new information, and not every update has to be mind blowing. This offered something new, it was an acceptable update.

Yeah its lazy. They told us what we already knew. The "new" information isn't even new information. Not to mention this feature wasn't even important enough to get its own update. That ALONE says its a lazy update as they needed filler.

I don't expect them all to be gems. But for crying out loud, if it can't stand on its own legs don't bother.
