You need an HDTV to see the difference. I was able to see it. :p
Yeah difference is night and day. My TV isn't even 1080p...

I really don't see Nintendo needing that much space...
I agree that I don't feel blu-ray is necessary and I'm not ready for it to replace DVDs. But as far as storage space goes it's always good to have room for growth

Added:
Another important aspect of Nintendo's next console is the controllers. For backwards compatibility it will either have to use an upgraded version of the Wii remote and nunchuk or allow communication with and use of the existing controllers. If they do stick with motion based controllers (which I imagine they will) I hope they also include a traditional style controller (perhaps similar to the Pro classic controller). I think that would make a lot of developers and gamers happy. Stopping the production of GameCube controllers when releasing a console compatible with them was a mistake.

DSi? Shantae? Y'know we should just have a Nintendo Week thread for the weekly downloadable games since the Wii Shop and DSi Shop updates are always announced together.

I was actually thinking about making a new thread today to post the update for that same reason.

That's cool. Nintendo is trying to boost WiiWare sales, so if this is true it would certainly help.

Japan's Nintendo Channel gets paid videos
- Theater no Ma section allows access to movies, anime and more
- download on a rental basis, paid with Nintendo Points
- pricing/viewing period vary on the content
- some content can be transferred to DSi
- new search features: sort by genre, rating, and special feature
- view free sample clips
- new content from Walt Disney Japan, TV Asahi, NHK, Toei, Pokemon, J League Media Promotion, Howcast Media, Bonus, Yoshimoto Kogyo, Warp Star, Warner Entertainment Japan, Asmik Ace Entertainment, and Sesame Workship
- as you can see in the one screen, the Kirby anime costs 100 Nintendo Points
- screens show over 100 available videos

This looks cool and it'd be nice if it came to America, but let's not get our hopes up. Also i just thought of something else, DVD playback seems to be pointlessly missing from that list of features, but for all I know Japan may already have a DVD playback channel.
