I don't think the feature was available yet, I checked the Shop Channel an hour or two ago, and it was under maitnence, but now I checked again(to do game research :p) and it says it's been updated and you must update your Wii software, so go and update! :p

The update includes an awesome new channel picture! As well as Wii Gifting and Photo Channel 1.1! Check it out!

I thought it'd be funny to gift ChaosGamma and Adrik the Photochannel :p.

Lol, you can do that? So you gifted us the updated Photo channel? Sounds like some sweet updates, I'd been hoping that they'd update the photo channel. Does it allow you to put message board photos on your SD card now? That would own

Edit: I just remembered an idea that I think we mentioned before: Now we can have contests or tournaments where the winner gets a VC game! We'll just have to think of something in case the winner doesn't have a Wii (getting $5 in the mail definitely wouldn't be as meaningful as getting SMB3). I imagine we'll have some SSBB tournaments once the time comes :D .

The only considerable difference so far is that you can change the channel picture, if you find any others plz lemme know.

EDIT: From Nintendo:

Photo Channel 1.1
Photo Channel version 1.1 is available now!

What's new with Photo Channel 1.1?

Personalize your Wii Menu by making one of your favorite digital images from an SD memory card as the Photo Channel icon (how to).

Replace MP3 compatibility with the ability to play AAC files. AAC files provide a greater sound quality than an MP3 of the same size. This new compatibility will work with MP4 audio files in the .m4a format.
Please note that once the Photo Channel has been updated to version 1.1, the channel will no longer be able to play MP3 format music files. Wii games that currently have features which use MP3 music files will continue to use the MP3 file format. These Wii games will not be compatible with the AAC files.

Music files used with the slideshow feature can be played in a random order

Wow, that music bit is weird, why can't it play both MP3 and AAC? I'm happy with the quality of my MP3s :p

Edit: Sorry, but I can't find where you found that, could you give a :link: ? Thanks

Check the Photochannel section on Wikipedia, I believe it's source #6.

You were correct, thanks. I'll try out 1.1, using your pic for the Wii menu is cool, but I'll have to see if it will still play the music off my SD card

Cybernator-SNES

Alien Storm- Genesis

Monster Lair- TurboGrafx-CD

No real "winners" this week, Cybernator does catch my interest a bit, though due to money and memory contraints theres much more important games.

And an article from GoNintendo pertaining to SD Card support:

Quote:

I don’t know if you’ve transferred any games from your Wii memory to an SD memory card. If you have, you’re already aware that it can take a long time. The data access speeds for the SD memory card are so slow that running a game directly from a card would be full of delays. For fast data transfer speeds, it’s necessary to have the game data reside in the system memory.

As players continue to download Virtual Console games, the Wii console’s internal memory will fill up. However, it’s important to note that the actual downloaded game and the license to have that downloaded game on your Wii console reside in two separate areas of your Wii Internal
Memory. The game resides in the Channels section while the license is kept in your Wii Shop Channel account.

What this means to you is that once you’ve beaten a Virtual Console game, feel free to delete it to make room for another game. If at any point you decide to play it again, access the Wii Shop Channel and download it again. It is possible to delete and re-download purchased Virtual Console games as many times as you like for free, even if you were to re-format the console. This will allow you to free up the space you need for game saves and new Channels indefinitely.

The only way to delete or lose the license is to delete your Wii Shop Channel account entirely, which would then delete the licenses of all the games you’ve downloaded.
