I was surprised to learn you actually have to unlock several of the assist trophies. It's true some Pokemon didn't appear until you met certain condition in Melee, but there's more differences in them than I thought there would be. For one thing, if you've played around in training, you've probably realized that there's now limits to how many items can appear on the field of battle at a time. Three Pokeballs can appear at once, but only one assist trophy at a time. Naturally only one Smash Ball ever appears at once as well, and it's appearance is marked by a bright flash. Anyway, I've been surprised at which assist trophies are the most effective. Dr. Wright, who may look impressive on the Dojo, is really sorta useless. The building he summons is really small in comparison to the size of some stages and it's highly unlikely it'll damage anyone. One time when an enemy was directly in his range, he turned and summoned it in the opposite direction. Devil, is downright annoying. If anyone suffers from it, it likely will be the one who summoned him. I imagine the Nintendog might create a similar effect, but I've yet to see it. And Mr. Resetti, though when we got it, everyone stopped to read what he had to say. :eggman: Some assist trophies are just sort of mediocre. They might cause a little damage, but really nothing that you even have to worry about dodging. Like Excitebike, Jill and Drill Dozer, Lakitu and Spinies, and Stafy. The best assist trophies I have gotten so far are probably Lyn and Waluigi, sometimes Knuckle Joe. Lyn almost always hits her target with great damage and knockback, usually KOing them. Waluigi doesn't have that kind of range, but he really pummels foes. Knuckle Joe sorta jumps around aimlessly, but his rising break is deadly if it connects. Kat and Ana are fairly good, too. As much as I hate to say it though, Tingle is one of the more interesting assist trophies. He may make a ton of one item appear. He once made about ten hammers appear for me. Shadow the Hedgehog could have been better. I fail to see any difference between him an a timer except that he probably never causes a bad effect for you. Anyway, so what do y'all think of the assist trophies? Who is your favorite, which do you find helpful, and so on? |

I like Grey Fox and Saki the most. And I think theres only one assist at a time because it has to load. If you notice, after each time it disappears you can hear the Wii making a noise. I don't think it does that w/ Pokeballs. Though, obviously thats not 100% correct, but thats my guess. |

It's strange, when I was playing as Sonic one time I got Shadow from an assist trophy, and he used Chaos Control, but their damage percent was going up. It's was strange because it only happened one out of the three times I've gotten him. Just strange.. |

I like them---they feel more like they're helping me than Pokeballs, hence the word "assist." I like Custom Robo and Excitebike and Lakitu the most. |

I liked the Custom Robo one also. I like most of them, but ones like Nintendog is more annoying than helpful. |

The only assist I found useful was The girl from Fire Emblem. I haven't seen them all though. WHen I got shadow the first time he fell off the edge of the stage... |

I didn't find Shadow that useful either. Most of 'em kinda help to an extent though, so I'm not complaining too much. |

I like them. One I really hate is the Devil. The Nintendog blocks your view but I don't find it as annoying for some reason. Devil is just aggravating. I have unlocked Custom Robo but I have yet to see it. I think I've seen all the others. I agree that Lyn and Waluigi are the best. Waluigi buries them in the ground giving you time to gather food to restore health, charge up your home run bat, or whatever you need. And he does some great damage. Lyn is also really powerful and I think she's a guaranteed hit. Mr. Resetti is a personal favorite just for his funny talk. Most others seem powerful like Little Mac, but rarely do they make contact with your opponent. They all seem pretty easy to avoid. I've yet to see Isaac, and he's one I really want to see. I keep getting Hammer Bro and Samurai Goroh... |

He actually would have been a good choice for an unlockable newcomer. Oh well... |
