In the Sonic grams of Sonic X #33, a guy mentions Sonic in Brawl and asks if there would be a comic book tie-in for Brawl (something I'd thought of myself that would be really cool). The response he gets reveals much more than just the answer to his question about Brawl.
Sonic Grams response: "While there are no current plans for a "Brawl" tie-in, we do have tie-ins in the works for the two new Sonic-centric games coming out this year: "Sonic Unleashed" & "Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood"! So keep an eye out for those upcoming adaptions (SHAMELESS PLUG #3!!) And I guess this doesn't really count as a shameless plug, but from one Sonic geek to many others, you should all pick up a copy of "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" for your Nintendo Wii! The more Sonic in your life, the better! (SORT-OF SHAMELESS PLUG #4!!))"

So awesome news and an awesome Sort-of Shameless Plug (Lol)

Not too surprised, I don't know if they skipped Zero Gravity but they've done the first Sonic Riders and Secret Rings lately, it only means more money for them xD.

They also did Sonic Rush Adventure. The only way it'd mean more money is if people went and bought the book that it's printed in just because they knew about the tie-in and wouldn't have bought the book otherwise, which isn't very likely. Unless the specials were separate books as special issues, but I assume they'll just have the tie-ins as back up stories like they've been doing since after Sonic Adventure 2. Many people including myself love comic tie-ins so this news is worth getting excited over (although they've technically not been "tie-ins" since SA2 either because they don't relate the game to the comic storyline but that's besides the point).

There is a chance that they could decide to go back to special issues. And yeah you can call them "tie-ins" a better word you were looking for would be "adaptations" tie-ins works because it's borrowing elements from the games, which is what ties them together. Not that it matters xD. Did you read the Secret Rings one? Was that included in the comics or was that only exclusive to the game?(If purchased at Target)

Yes, I have it, although it was not in a comic, it was on a disc only with the game from Target (I didn't get mine at Target I worked at Gamestop and snatched up the disc first chance I got). I only continued to use "tie-in" because that's the term they actually used in Sonic Grams, but you're right adaption is a better word

Yes, pretty good, kinda cool because since it's on a DVD the still images move a little bit and you click to see the word balloons. It gives an overview of the story and explains the characters, but of course leaves you to go play the game for the ending. They just should've made the comic more easily attainable.

The Sonic Chronicles tie-in was printed in the last issue (191). It was a good start but then it just ends with go play the game (the way it stopped so abruptly I expected it to continue in the next ish, but apparently that's not the case). I imagine the Unleashed one will be in either next month's issue or the one after that.

If it ends with "Go Play the game" it does sound like they won't be continuing. I don't blame them, why spoil it now? Maybe they'll do more after it comes out.

The Sonic Unleashed special is in 193 and came out today. The Sonic Unleashed side story is pretty much just the game's opening in comic form.

What's really cool about the Sonic Chronicles special is that it showed the events that are only talked about in the game and not shown, and it happened before the start of the game so it was awesome if you'd already read the comic before playing the game.
