Cuz you weren't smart like me and didn't wait for a special edition 3DS to come out. B) Speaking seriously, even if I did manage to save up the $200 in time, I'm still not sure if I'll get it. I just know Nintendo is going to release a 3DS Lite with improved battery life and other things soon enough. And that will no doubt get its own special editions. |

So today we can download the new update. 3D video recording, Mii Plaza update, and the Nintendo Zone. Not sure if there's anything else. The Find Mii II is pretty cool. You can call up people you have streetpassed with before for some play coins. My nephew and I play this all the time so he's at max level. That should be pretty useful. That's actually all I checked out. Not sure what to do with Nintendo Zone. I guess you get downloads from certain wi-fi hotspots like at retail stores. Not entirely sure. Also, I just got Mario Kart 7 today. It's pretty awesome. There's a lot to unlock so it'll keep me busy for a while. I haven't even started with online yet. |

I just read that you can pay the exact amount you need for games now? Like if you want to buy a $5.99 game, you pay $5.99 exactly, you don't have to put a set amount of funds in first. |

Seriously? I have to go check that. Last game I downloaded was Metroid 2 before the update. OK, just checked and it looks like your right. There is a "Needed Funds" button added. You can still buy in $5, $10, $20, and $50 increments, but this is definitely a much needed change as I have $0.78 in my balance and there's nothing I could do with that. This was my biggest complaint with the eShop so I'm glad they fixed it. |

That would have been excellent if they would do that with the Wii Shop Channel and I wouldn't have had to buy an extra 1000 points for Pokemon Puzzle League when I already had 900 in my balance. <_< So, in other words, this is really something that should have been implemented from the start. I know I probably shouldn't be that mad at Nintendo considering that Microsoft, Sony, and Valve all do exactly the same thing, but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous. (I'm generally not really concerned about it on PSN since I buy quite a bit of things from there anyway.) |

The money system now places Nintendo ahead of its competition now in my book as far as making actual purchases go. A very simple, yet phenomenal feature at the same time. I really don't know why NO ONE has been doing this. I don't know if its just a sneaky way to try to make money and have people have credit/points that they will never use or something like that. |

I personally think it's a bit less bothersome with other services (XBL/PSN/Steam) because they have bunches of cheap DLC you can spend your leftover funds on. (Of course, if you don't HAVE any of the games they offer DLC for, well, then that's another story.) Nintendo always bugged me much more because they don't have that kind of stuff. The only thing you can really buy from them is full games. :/ |

No one? The PS3 never had funbucks like the Wii and 360. And why is Steam even being mentioned in this? There aren't any "Steam Points" or anything, you pay the exact amounts with real money. Unless I'm misunderstanding everyone. |

PSN uses actual dollars and cents, but you still have a wallet and you still have to add funds to it. So it's still pretty much the same, except they tell you right there the actual dollar amount of each thing rather than "zomg it costs 600 SuperPointzTM". (EDIT: I can't remember if Steam does the same thing as PSN in this regard. I remember giving myself $25, but I don't remember if I only did that because it gave me specific dollar-amount options or if I actually wanted to give myself $25.) (EDIT DOS: Oh yeah, and even then, you'll probably have a lot more problems with cents being left over in PSN because most things are just short of an integer dollar amount and you can only add integer dollar amounts to your wallet. :p ) Edited by SaixBanana, Dec 7 2011, 06:32 PM.

Yes but on the PS3 you can only add a minimum of $5 to your wallet. ANd you're missing the point entirely. We're just comparing all the digital distribution systems payment methods(at least I am). Points, funbucks, doll hairs, cash, check, credit, anything. Steam is obviously the best for the very reason you just posted. Personally for me it goes this way now: Steam(pay via credit card, no wallets one simple check out), 3DS (no limits), PS3 ($5 minimum), 360(incriments similar to the Wii. . .unless this has changed in the past year or two for I haven't played my 360 since then), Wii, DSi(they're tied for the same reason as the 360).
