3D remake of the classic game, its being handled by Climax studios, the people who worked/working on Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

FINALLY!!! I wish it was for WiiWare, but even if it means a better graphics card for my PC, I WILL HAVE THIS!

Wolves, though? If it's a remake then it must be a remake of the Super Nintendo game, because pigs were the villains in the original Genesis game followed by lizards in the Genesis sequel.

Ah, apparently it is a sequel. As it's supposedly been 15 years since the last game, the sequel is set 15 years in time after the last game (Genesis Sparkster). 1up has the full story.

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
Looks cool. I hope a demo is released so I can see if it can run on my PC.

Awesome! It's like a long lost wish finally come true! This is great! I hope they release the original games alongside it too, I never got to play the SNES version, which was different from the Genesis games.

Well it's Wednesday, and that means day three of 1UP.com's daily exclusive look at the game. I'm jamming to the awesome music from the original Rocket Knight Adventures (click the music blog on day 2 to listen too) while checking out today's Character Design Feature.

It's Friday, and the trailer is up!
Go check it out!

Looks good but it doesn't show anything too spectacular. I'm not sure if I like Axel Gear's new look (assuming that's him in the trailer)

I kinda had a feeling his armor was gonna get a new color scheme. I don't know if it suits him quite as well, but it looks pretty cool. At least it's not purple. His rocket pack looks sort of different, too. It looks like there's a whole lot of new moves and they look like fun. Anyway, I'm seriously looking forward to when the game is released now. Gotta get a Steam account and maybe upgrade my computer a little between now and then. Of course, I have no problem playing Mega Man X8 and it doesn't look much different from it as far as graphics are concerned, but I'm definitely overdue for some more RAM at least.

As of yesterday the game is available on XBox Live Arcade and Steam as well as PSN I would assume. I just finished my first run of arcade mode on normal difficulty. I think the game was really well done. I may not quite live up to the thrill of the original, but at least it shines in other areas. The graphics are great, and I like the new art style. I haven't paid too much attention to the rest of the music in the game, but I liked what I heard and I was extremely glad to hear a remix of the music from the first stage of Rocket Knight Adventures (which I've been waking up to with the alarm on the Mario Clock on my DSi since I heard about the sequel) as soon as I got into the game.

I, of course, got the Steam version which has universal gamepad support. The mappable action buttons are jump, sword attack, long-range attack, and of course rocket attack. You can get a short hover boost by pressing jump again in mid-air. His sword swing is always the same, though I would've like a little more variety to it. I wasn't expecting a lot of combos or anything, but at least Sparkster: RKA 2 for Genesis had him attack differently in mid-air. On the other hand, the wide swing he does is probably to make deflecting enemy explosives easier. The long-range attack is, well, not very long-range at all but shoots a fireball a short distance similar to the attack from the original. It does less damage, but has it's occasional uses. The rocket pack auto-charges (except when it's frozen, heh) and you can do single rocket bursts in any direction or spin in place. Diagonal rocket burst will make you ricochet off walls, and pressing the rocket attack button again during a rocket attack initiates Sparkster's drill attack. The drill attack does more damage, uses more rocket energy, and allows you to break through certain walls and objects. You can use the hover boost in conjunction with the rocket burst/drill attack to help stabilize yourself.

There's a few of the flying stages and those are pretty fun and offer a few new moves. The bosses are pretty cool, though maybe a little too easy. Of course, that probably changes on hard mode. I'm not sure how many stages the other Sparkster games had, though I seem to remember the original having seven with a least three levels to each, but I'm pretty sure this one is somewhat shorter as it only has four, but the first few have several levels to them. Of course, it is a $15 downloadable game. That won't bother me as long as we don't have to wait fifteen more years for the next game. Anyway, there's 16 Steam achievements (12 for XBox Live I think) and a few unlockable features. Whether you've played the other games or not, it's worth checking out (at least download the demo), but if you haven't played the other games you certainly should because they're awesome.
