Yeah Scrooge was the only guy I updated. It was pretty cool seeing some DuckTales in the game.

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
I saw this brought up on other forums and I thought I'd mention it here. I wonder if Nintendo will see the value of good sales from these 30 cent trials for Wii U VC? If they start having even half as many sales as Steam does, I'd consider that a step up for Nintendo.

Well, since the Wii U has launched, Mighty Switch Force HD has gone on sale, Little Inferno has gone on sale, Trine 2 has gone on sale, and Chasing Aurora has gone on sale.

And now we have these $0.30 sales.

So three sales (Trine/Aurora/Inferno were apart of the same sale) in the past two months is pretty good for Nintendo. Especially since they have a very small catalog at this point.

All they gotta do is keep this up and we're in good shape.

And bring back 3DS sales! The GOTWeek sales were great but only lasted like a month.

I think those sales are much better indicators than the 30 cent sales.

I mean, most people will buy the game no matter what only because it's 30 cents, it's practically negligible in your budget.* However, a sale for a game like Trine 2, which is $20 normally, on sale for like $15 will get a LOT less because people won't buy it simply because it's cheaper. They'll still have to have some interest in the game to take the dive.

These sales do work though! I wasn't going to buy Mighty Switch Force! any time soon due to having it on 3DS, but the sale convinced me, same goes for Little Inferno, I had little interest in it at it's $15 price point, but the sale convinced me to take the plunge.

I make sure to bring up sales in practically all relevant Club Nintendo surveys. And Nintendo does listen to them, so I hope everyone is taking those seriously!

*And while in the past year the steam sales aren't AS crazy as they used to, there was a time when people would buy a lot of games and then not even play them xD and buy a bunch simply due to them being very cheap or in bundles (i'm a culprit of the bundles!) so that is something I didn't think about initially when typing this message.

Also, developers/publishers are allowed to put their games on sale whenever they want, so the ball is really in their court now, not just Nintendo's (though it is also Nintendo's responsibility to try to have the best service possible).

I was thinking about this, does that count for VC games I wonder? I hope so, I've really grown to dislike the current pricing.

I haven't read anything for sure, but I dont see why not, SEGA was able to reduce prices on the Wii Shop Channel, and there have been a few sales for VC titles on the 3DS, though those were first party titles.

Since it's all in the same infrastructure I don't see it being a big deal, but that's a very good question.

I totally forgot about the Sega sale. That gives me hope that publishers will put their VC games on sale at least every now and then. I hope they do weekly sales again though, like you've said.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think any third party has done any sort of VC sale since SEGA.

But again, I really don't see why they couldn't if they don't want to. I mean, SEGA loves doing sales on PSN/XBLA/Steam (well on steam, they mostly only do the big holiday sales, but still) so you'd think we would have seen like Sonic Triple Trouble for like $3 or something :P.

EDIT:

Also, the future $0.30 games in America will be:

F-Zero, Punch-Out!!, Kirby's Adventure, Super Metroid, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong.

Japan is getting Earhtbound, those lucky people!

I don't have F-Zero, Punch-Out!!, or Donkey Kong so those are very nice to see! I own the others, however, the fact that they're only $0.30 means i'll get 'em anyway!

Double Edit: Japan gets Fire Emblem instead of F-Zero, and Earthbound instead of Punch-Out. Jerks!

I feel like buying virtual console titles just to put in surveys "release earthbound!"

Japan gets Earthbound!?! Oh man! I'm going to follow Einar's lead and start requesting it in my survey's as well.

I'm diggin' the 30 cent sales as well and I'm glad that Nintendo will be bringing the VC library to the eShop, although delayed and at the cost of $1, $1.50 for those who already transferred the games to their console (I did).

But speaking of the sales support, 3DS eShop sales are back!

Yeah they're wonderful! I picked up Crashmo, and as far as this particular sale goes, I think that's all I'll get. (I already have a few of the games that will be on sale)

Also, just as a general message to everyone here, this week Retro City Rampage came out on Wii Ware, and the creator released it pretty much simply to keep his promise of a wii release and expects to make a loss on the Wii version. So if you're interested in the game, I highly recommend picking it up for Wii over PS3/Vita/PC! It's the cheapest of the three (except for when it'll inevitably be on sale on steam, and recently was $8 a week or so ago) and comes with a special NES ROM hack as a bonus that plays the game as it was actually on an NES (so slowdown, less sprites, flickering, etc).

I got the game for free on PS3 thanks to Playstation Plus, but after hearing about the guy's (it's a one man team pretty much) dedication to getting a Wii version out, I feel like I should pitch in and buy the Wii version as well.
