OK, now I have put out the final version of the "Catch that Charizard!" game. Key change was the background, which was just a spray paint of different colors, but I think it looks much better than the old starry sky background. Also updated the art on the buttons. Added two new buttons which don't really do anything but are just there for fun. In addition to the bubble button which is your main attack and the throw button to throw a pokeball, you now have the Earthquake attack and an option to run from battle. Running results in a loss, so don't do that. Earthquake shakes the screen and that's it. Doesn't do anything to a flying type so don't waste your time. Like I said, this is the final version of this micro game. It took a long time trying to get it just right and I'm more than happy with how it ultimately turned out. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how each object would interact with everything and trying to get it all to do exactly what I wanted. One thing I wanted to add was an "It's Super Effective!" message when you hit Char with bubble. I decided to leave that out mainly because there is no room on the screen and it would just get in the way. Now that this is out of the way, I can finally get started on a new game. Be sure to check my wi-fi crate for the new download. |

Alright, nicely done! All of the updates are great and the game turned out as an excellent micro game homage to Pokemon. 9-Volt would be proud. XD Speaking of 9-Volt, you should try to unlock everybody's games (it ain't very hard at all) and some of their records because you can then use those materials for your own games. 9-Volt's games are great, as usual, because they're micro games of official Nintendo games with the original graphics and music (same goes for 18-Volt are WW D.I.Y. Showcase). You might see some kind of action in their games you were trying to figure out to do in yours as well. So, have anything planned for your next micro game project? |

I tried your latest Catch Charizard and the Cut Man game now. Great job to both of you. Cut Man is tough though. I can't seem to unlock everybody's games; for each character there's at least one game still missing (just one for most of them), do you have to do something special to get their boss games? And can you use the stuff from the built in games in showcase on your ds too? I'm going to try making some kind of Sonic game since no one else here has yet. I've got a couple incomplete ideas; I'm afraid the art will take a lot of work though. |

The only case in which you can't use something to create your own game with is when the creator (WarioWare DIY owner) has locked it. You're free to use anything from all of Mona, Jimmy T, Ashley, Orbulon, 9-Volt, Wario Man, Dribble & Spitz, Kat & Ana, and 18-Volt's games, though you'll have to download the games on Showcase onto your DS of course. No, nothing special though it was always hard for me to unlock the last game. You go through a boss stage about every dozen rounds or so (only one boss stage per collection). I think you unlock records for getting a high score of 20 and then another for 40. |

I have no idea what I'm going to do next. I do have a couple ideas but we'll see how they all turn out in the end. |

Since you can do whatever you want and you guys have been making micro games from different series, have you thought of making crossovers that you've always wanted to see? Such as Mega Man vs Samus. And wouldn't it be cool to come up with some games based on the Sonic comics? As for just Sonic micro games, I've got an idea for a Sonic Spinball game, half of an idea for a grinding game, and bits floating around of traditional Sonic platformer that should fit in some micro games. And I've got an idea for a game based on my game Beyond the Margins. |

I haven't thought of crossover type stuff. I may have to think about my options now. I put up a small demo of something that I am working on. No background and a lot of temp art, but I'm excited about the end product. Basically you play as Mario and you move him left or right to dodge falling fireballs. Touch a fireball and you lose. Make it to the end of the game and you win. As you can see, there will be many improvements to come. Something I'm thinking about is adding more than one fireball, or making them move faster. Or maybe I should have a completely different style of movement. Maybe they should leap up from the bottom and fly in an arc pattern. That may be harder to dodge. One problem I had was preventing Mario from running off the screen. I added two blocks on both sides of the screen and Mario will stop when he touches one. A small problem I had was that if you have him turn at just the right moment, he will get stuck in the block. This is something I hope to remedy for the final installment. |

Switched out the Mario game with an updated version. Almost final. I'm going to change Mario's animation when he get's hit later, and I still have that problem with Mario getting stuck in the block. Otherwise, tell me what you guys think. Should I add another fireball to up the challenge or boost the speed at all? Edit: Fixed the block problem by removing the blocks entirely. Well, I decided to start making Mega Man micro games first for a number of reasons: I was in a Mega Man mood after getting the awesome Mega Man The Complete Works artwork book for my birthday, I had some lingering Mega Man fan game/comic ideas, and Mega Man sprites are fairly easy to make as most of them are based off a simple human robot design that can be easily edited into various characters. Hey, Capcom appears to do it themselves. So I chose that as my first project while I get used to and learn how to make micro games. However, I am getting pretty comfortable with it now and do want to work on some other micro games while continuing the Mega Man games here and there. Coincidentally, before I even got home from work I was thinking of making some games based on the Sonic comics (the fact I picked up a new Sonic comic before work might have contributed to that). I thought about recreating Sonic's final battle with Robotnik Prime (the original SatAM Robotnik) where you dodge Robotnik's attacks by dashing around to different locations in the room during the impending destruction of the Ultimate Annihilator. Survive long enough and the cannon's destruction will erase Robotnik from existence and Sonic will emerge triumphant. Crossover's would be awesome, too. I had an idea of the TMNT fighting the Foot before I got the game, too. I hope you get it soon so we can see your awesome games! I downloaded your game, Bermuda. Very nice indeed. Be careful you don't put 9-Volt out of business. XD |
