My PS1 memory card came in today, and I was going to ask what PS1 games you would recommend, but I figured I'd make a general game recommendations thread. So yeah, what PS1 classics would you guys recommend? I want use the memory card for something besides MGS saves. I'm considering FFIX and Castlevania SotN. (Though the latter is a little pricey) |

SotN is definitely one of my favorite PS1 games. I also like the Resident Evils and FFIX. To be honest, I didn't play a lot of PS1, as I got the system fairly late. I think I got it the summer before PS2 came out. |

The first time I ever owned a PS1 was about two summers ago. I did however, play a few PS1 games on PS2. Spyro and Crash(the first few at least) are almost required. I'd say at least try out Spyro. Like Bermuda said, RE's always good if you haven't gotten the other 500 iterations of the games. Parasite Eve is pretty cool too. |

I'll probably get RE1 and 2. Yeah I was considering Spyro as well. Spyro was basically the reason I wanted a PS1 back in the day. Unfortunately a lot of the RPGs are pricey. Xenogears and Tales of Destiny are like $30-$40. FFIX and Chrono Cross go for good prices though. I wonder why a lot of these go for so much? Most of the N64's critically acclaimed games are cheaper than that. |

Jumping Flash is a fun game. Its short but fun and should be cheap to get. If you want to spend the money, Breath of Fire 3 and 4. |

I've decided to save my money for the next several months to get a current gen console. I'm leaning toward the PS3 but I'm still not entirely sure. PS3 Pros: Free online service Less likely to break than the 360 PS1 games on the PSN store Most of the games I want are multiplatform 360 Pros: Interesting exclusives like the Gears of War series, Crackdown, Halo 3 (though I can live without it) Multiplatform games are apparently better on 360, like Bayonetta XBLA has a lot of great looking games The GTAIV episodes being released for the PS3 and MvC3 being announced really pushed me toward it...any reasons I should go for a 360 instead? EDIT: After thinking about it I think I will get a PS3. Feel free to mention reasons to get a 360 though. Edited by Brewmaster Dragon, May 15 2010, 05:36 PM.

...And now I'm leaning toward the 360. This is going to drive me nuts. Oh well, I got a while to decide. To those of you who own one or both of them, what do you like about each system? |

I still play a lot of PS1 and PS2, so the backwards compatibility is definitely a plus for me. I know current PS3s don't play PS2 games anymore, but PS1 is still good. Plus FFIX is supposed to be released soon on PSN. As far as online gaming goes, I'm not too sure. I do buy the online multiplayer games for 360, but I rarely play those online. I think I have played each online game I have once and that was it. I may not even renew my XBox Live subscription next year. I play single-player mostly. That's just me though. I prefer single-player games, I probably play older games more than the current stuff, and the DS is probably my most played system. My opinion's probably not worth much here. |

Thanks for answering anyway! Yeah, having to pay for XBL is one of things steering me away from the 360. I like playing online games, but I really don't want to have to pay $50 a year to play against 12 year old boys. I don't even spend $50 on games anymore. (Not just one game anyway) But then a lot of the 360 exclusives are really tempting, and again, most of the games I want are multiplatform. So I'll have access to both if I get a 360. The fact that the current PS3s don't play PS2 games kind of kills it for me. Right now...I'm still thinking 360 though I'll probably think of another reason to get a PS3 instead. |

Ps3 has wireless built-in which saves you $100. Whether you would use it or not. I don't need it. But let me tell ya. With Netflix. Its nice to only have to put in a disc, rather then plug it into the router in the next room. |
