Some retailers have reportedly broken the street date and is already selling the game. . .no word yet on which ones though.

Just called Best Buy. They said they'd hold one for me so I'll go pick it up now.

Edit: And to no one's surprise, the lady at customer service tells me the game doesn't come out until the 11th so they don't have any in stock, right after they said they had them. I should have expected as much, so I won't blame them for their incompetence.

Instead, I will blame HMS for getting my hopes up. :jon:

Never listen to Best Buy, all they ever do is check their computers and so long as they have it in stock the computers will read in stock, whether its on the shelves for sale is another story. Naturally since the game comes out on Sunday I'm sure they already have the games in stock.

And I knew that was going to happen too, man. Maybe I'm just getting a little too excited for this game.

I know how you feel, same thing happened to me with No More Heroes 2, it really sucks when you waste a trip, luckily enough though I hit up K-Mart to buy Tatsunok vs Capcom ahead of street date so it wasn't totally wasted.

So, those of you with the game: How are you enjoying it so far? I'm about 11 hours in and just got to the Alltrades Abbey and I'm enjoying it quite a bit!

Only thing I dislike is the use of sprite based characters. . .I understand why they did it, but at times when there's 3D characters standing next to the sprites it just looks out of place. And most of them aren't very detailed and they get reused too much. Perhaps its an homage to sprite RPGs? I doubt it.

Also, any of you gonna try to take advantage of tag mode when you leave your homes? I plan on turning it on when I go to places like the mall or movies but i doubt I'll get anything in my home town. Hopefully when I go to college there will be plenty of people to tag.

I just got to Alltrades Abbey myself, but I don't think I'm ready to switch jobs just yet. I got my main guy leveling up his sword skill and I'd like to get more points for that from the Minstrel job first. I created my guys to look like Dragonball characters. My main guy is Goku with the yellow spiky hair and green eyes. He's kind of skinny but that's ok. Then I got Bulma next. You can make a decent looking Bulma in this game. After her is Krillin which is ok. Then I have Trunks with his purple hair. I think I could make decent Androids 17 and 18, but I'll do that after I beat the game maybe.

DQ reusing NPC sprites is something the series does. Even DQVIII did that a lot. I have seen so many giant guys in those weird cow masks and bunny girls that I have decided to just accept it. Though it is weird that main characters will be in 3D and animated, while most NPCs are just simple 2D sprites.

As for tag mode, I've never actually taken advantage of that in any DS game. Maybe I'll try it out, but it just seems so unlikely that there will be other people carrying their DS around with DQIX in tag mode as well. Who knows though, I could be wrong.

Well mostly what I meant by reuse of sprites was for important people, like I've noticed that a lot of mayors and powerful ranking people look the same.

And my team consists of a minstrel, mage, martial artist, and a warrior.

I seem to have taken a bit of a break from the main quest as I'm just leveling my characters now. The Metal Slimes in the Quarantomb near Coffinwell has been a really great place to train in the early levels.

As for where I am in the game, I'm not to sure anymore. I beat some bosses, now I guess I have to travel the world blindly for the next quest. No idea where to head to now.
