Microsoft just requires achievements, developers can set as many as they want and for as many points as they want. That said if a company wanted to make a game with one achievement for 1 million points just for beating the game, they could. |

Actually, unless they changed, I'm fairly certain they're only allowed a 1,000 point limit for retail games with a 500 point extension for DLC, while arcade games only get 200 points. Info On How Capcom Got Around It |

They didn't really work around it, those are the minimum amounts they need. They probably had to ADD the points because they fell into On Demand category. |

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.

Yeah, every game has to have 1000 points initially, and DLC can add more. |

What has me most curious about this is what constitutes this specifically as a Games on Demand title? Seeing as how the only Resident Evil game to hit the Xbox was RE5. And how other HD remakes don't get the same treatment such as Beyond Good and Evil HD. I haven't hit the Xbox Live Market Place in a loooong time, so I don't remember, are there any twenty dollar XBLA games or is $15 the max? I guess that would be logical as to why it goes up a tier. Also, those are NOT minimums. Nor are they maximums, those ARE the amount you HAVE to use on Xbox. Like Dragon and I said, DLC can add to it, but there's still a limit to how much. (I'm mostly just discussing this due to curiosity and just providing food for thought and some nice discussion, I'm not even a huge fan of achievements especially ones like these that don't actually challenge you all that much). And I was curious on the subject matter so I did some research, I just thought I'd share some fun facts with you guys: A game can ship with LESS than 1,000 points, however, if it does any content added in an update for the rest of the 1,000 points has to be free. And a game can have a maximum gamer score of 1,750 with 250 points added every quarter the first year, and 200 point arcade games can only have 50 points MAX added in its life. No mention on if they can launch the game with lower than 200. I find it interesting how seriously Microsoft takes this gamer point system. Its pretty good so you don't get a bunch of games like Avatar where you can 1000G the game in under twenty minutes, because achievements can be fun if done right and its good to see some regulations on it. Sony doesn't seem to have any regulations on trophies do they? It seems like they just have however much bronze, silver, and gold as they want. Seems like the only thing thats consistent is ONE platinum and it's basically for 100%ing the trophies. (If anyone knows the trophy system better than me, feel free to tell me more!) And just for the sake of taking this back to Resident Evil and away from achievements/trophies, the more I think of this, the less I become excited about these re-releases. Again, I LOVE Code Veronica X, but with it just being displayed in HD, that's not really doing enough for me to justify a $20 purchase, especially when its via digital download. Same goes for RE4, it'll have the same content as the Wii Edition just in HD, so there's not a real huge reason for me to upgrade. But meh, who knows? I may change my mind. I may be joneseing for some Code Veronica come september and I may not feel like finding a means to play it(I have it on Dreamcast, though that's not the X version and I also have it on the Cube but I don't have the Cube with me, nor is my wii's disc drive working) so I guess only time will tell. |

I don't really feel like have a discussion over gamerscore. Every developer I have ever seen talking about gamer points/trophies has said there are few restrictions. From what I have read and heard developers can more or less do what they want as long as they are there. Sadly there is no real way to prove it as these things are often he said she said between first parties and developers. (Like who really controls pricing on the consoles stores) |

Nintendo power will have a huge in depth look in their next issue of Revelations, wonder if it'll provide any new info? (Which'll most likely be leaked/revealed before the issue comes out)

DC Comic's Resident Evil Mini Series Being Collected Into Graphic Novel It comes out August 17th, I think I'll pick it up. Amazon Says the 23rd I've never read an RE comic before, I've always wanted to read the ones based off the games, but it'll be cool to read this new one thats an original tale. Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles Bundle Coming to Japan Would anyone get this if it came to America? Obviously I wouldn't since I already own both, but looks pretty nice to those who are interested in them but don't have them yet. |
