I didn't see anyone say that, I was just taking a guess going by the music. But yeah I guess it did look pretty modern.

EDIT: Did anyone else think it was Vice City or a city like it at first? With all the emphasis on the beach and palm trees at the beginning, I thought so.
It did remind me very much so of Vice City, but I didn't think it was it at first since I had read which city it'd take place in last week.

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
Official press release from Rockstar

Quote:

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

This is all sounding very good to me. Does Rockstar North do all the GTA games or have the others had a shot at the series?

Pretty much, though Rockstar Leeds helped with the PSP games, according to the GTA wiki.
