Miyamoto Stepping Down From Current Position

Kotaku's article title is a little yellow, but it turns out Miyamoto is stepping down his current position to work on much smaller projects with younger devs and even potentially do games by himself.

This is very sad and very cool at the same time. I'd love to see what Miyamoto can come up with on his own.

It'll be interesting in how some of his game series evolve from here. Will Mario and Zelda become more story based? Miyamoto has been fighting against it for years (that's why he flip flops between story heavy[for mario titles] titles like Sunshine and Galaxy) while Aonuma has been wanting there to be more story in Nintendo titles.

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
Darn, beat me to it.

Well, it had to happen sometime. I'm interested to see where this goes...hmm, what about Pikmin 3? Is that going on without him, assuming it's not done or mostly done?

MOTOR GAMES ON CARDCYCLES
I'm kinda hoping "smaller games" doesn't mean iOS/Android/Facebook stuff. (Though this IS Miyamoto. He could probably revitalize all three of those platforms singlehandedly.)

Otherwise, I can't wait to see the new stuff he can pull out of that amazing mind of his. :mario:

Or Maybe Not?

They still claim he wants to train the future Nintendo devs, but he'll still be in his same position. Quite a confusing situation indeed.

This also caused Nintendo's stock to drop 2%.
