How could I forget about that?! I'm really looking forward to it too, not sure when I'll get it however.

Wii U - I don't know what games will be available for launch on this, but I think I'm about done with the Wii. I love new consoles anyway.
Has the Wii about overstayed it's welcome? Because I'm starting to feel that way about it too. Maybe it feels that way largely in part to there not being any more big Wii games to look forward to.
The Wii pretty much stopped its influx of new big releases by the beginning of 2011, so I don't think it really overstayed its welcome that much. I definitely do think that Skyward Sword was pretty much the last real "big release" for the poor thing (I won't count Dragon Quest X because it's technically not exclusive, anyway). I certainly hope the Wii doesn't become a stillborn console (as in, alive but not really) when the Wii U releases like the PS2 was for the past five years, or like the DS is starting to become.

What do you mean about the PS2? The fact that it still got quality releases even after the PS3 came out was amazing.

I think, like the GameCube after the Wii came out, Nintendo will immediately forget about the Wii as soon as the Wii U comes out. There's really nothing else coming out for it now, except Xenoblade but everyone else got that already. Unless there's something noteworthy I'm forgetting.

What were some of the games that came out for PS2 after the PS3 that were noteworthy?

Not trying to be smart, but all I remember are sports titles and ports.

EDIT: And Persona 4.

I will challenge that "quality releases" argument.

After a small bit of research, I can conclude that the only truly major releases for the PS2 since the release of the PS3 (as in, since November 2006) are God of War II, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, and Jak & Daxter: The Last Frontier. J&D apparently got rather middling reviews, Re:CoM is slightly YMMV (especially since it's a remake of a GBA game), and GoWII is also available for PS3 now. Pretty much every other PS2 release since the release of the PS3 is also available on seventh-gen systems, and most of them are licensed games. Also, for reference, the last major release BEFORE the PS3 came out was Final Fantasy XII about a week beforehand.

So yeah, the PS2 is pretty stillborn.

I guess I was comparing it to the GCN, which basically died right after the Wii came out while the PS2 was still getting stuff even after the PS3 came out. And when I said quality releases, I didn't mean it got a TON, just that it did. Of course, whether or not they're quality is up to the individual I suppose.

EDIT: On the other hand, I could be thinking of PS2 games I didn't play until after the PS3 came out, or stuff like FFXII came out near the PS3's release. I really need to confirm things instead of relying on my bad memory. I'll concede on this.

I am also excited for Bioshock 2 which will be coming to Mac this month. I played the hell out of it on Ps3, would love a mac version!

Sadly this year I only really want 3 games, Bioshock Infinite, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Mass Effect 3.

Hoping we get a fun new Sonic game, or perhaps a new traditional pokemon game this year. I would be 100% ok with a remake of Ruby and Sapphire. Though I imagine the new Pokemon game for 3DS will drop in September for Japan and the rest of us in 2013.... >_>

Don't sell yourself short, Dragon, you still made an excellent point: while the PS2 may not have gotten many exclusive or highest quality games after the PS3 came out, it still did get a lot more games, many of which were ports or watered down versions of games that were made for Wii and even the other 7th gen consoles. This kind of support for the PS2 did continue for years, and that's pretty remarkable. Just think why did this occur? When the PS3 had a very rocky start, everyone and their brother still had a PS2, so from a marketing standpoint it seemed pretty smart to release games for the console that millions of people had; Plus they were selling on the point that anything made for the PS2 could be played on the original PS3's (even though this didn't hold up to be entirely true). So with so many Wii consoles in homes around the world plus the announced backward compatibility for the Wii U, we should expect to see the same kind of life extension from developers for the Wii (but perhaps not as much since the Wii is already so far behind in graphics and power). However, I agree that Nintendo will most likely drop support of the Wii as we get close to the launch of Wii U, so the Wii isn't going to see much more first party support.

Another thing that makes me want to point out is it's pretty cool how the 360 and PS3 are still set for longevity like we haven't seen in a generation before. Nintendo has to release a new console just to keep up with the times, but it seems that Microsoft and Sony still won't be needing to release a new console anytime soon.

New Sonic games have been coming out pretty steadily with about at least one new game each year, so it won't surprise me if we do get a new Sonic game this year. It'll be fun to see what they come up with next after Sonic Generations was a pretty big hit and a good step in the right direction.

I've heard rumors of a Sonic Colors 2 coming this year, but of course that's just rumors. And they were pretty outlandish to begin with. For example, some of them included that Nintendo was helping out in the development. I mean sure, SEGA and Nintendo have obviously teamed up before on various projects, but I just don't see Nintendo physically getting involved in a Sonic title. I hope I'm wrong though! Nintendo touching Sonic would be fantastic, even though Sonic has gotten steadily better in the last few years(though I also haven't hated the newer games nearly as much as many others on the internet).

Also as for the PS2's longevity. I do agree it is pretty good. Its really good for those who cannot upgrade to the next console right away, and I think the DS is pretty much doing the same thing right now. Its still getting releases similar to the PS2, albeit many of them are JRPGs and the like, but we're still seeing some quality releases. Sure, to be honest, I'd rather see these games on the 3DS, I'm glad those who haven't upgraded yet still get a chance to enjoy newer titles.
