I really want Nintendo to release the system specifications (and not just say "It has an AMD GPU and USB ports"), but it'll never happen. Hopefully after it's out it won't be long until people open it up and post more specific details. And yeah, now that you mention it, I have heard multiple things about its power too, but overall it boiling down to it being on a similar level to the 360. That's what I was trying to get across I think. |

Yeah I get what you mean. I guess another big thing that needs to be seen is how big is the leap from the PS3 to the PS4? And the 360 to the 720? How far behind will the Wii U be then? Will it be the Wii all over again? And since I was just talking about games, I can't believe I forgot about one of my most anticipated exclusives! Rayman Legends! Looks simply phenomenal, and actually has me interested in playing with other people to use the gamepad (it looks simple, but very fun). Although to be honest, I give it 6 months to a year before it hits the other consoles. |

Truth be told, I'm pretty much done with consoles, I'm gonna pour at least a grand into my next computer and become one of the pc gaming master race... |

Well...your choice but that's a bit much considering PC gets primarily console ports these days. I'm pretty sure maxing everything out at 1080p wouldn't cost $1000. But I'm just guessing here...and derailing. EDIT: Actually, after doing some math, sure, close to $1000 if you want the most expensive stuff. Too rich for my blood though, I'll stick to my Radeon HD 6750 and 1440 x 900 monitor. (I do want a new CPU however...) Uh, anyway, Wii U! Edited by Brewmaster Dragon, Aug 23 2012, 08:25 PM.

Yes and no. There are a lot of exclusive pc titles too, and the console ones can't be modded, I want to play skyrim with ponies! :p I probably won't need a grand but I'm going to get/build a very nice computer. My current computer is pretty long in the tooth by pc standards, going on 4 years old. And I didn't do any pc gaming when I bought it, I never considered it. I'll probably get a wii-u though but skip Sony and microsofts next consoles. Edited by Einar T., Aug 23 2012, 08:28 PM.

(I hate derailing but I've started getting more into PC stuff myself, so sorry for continuing it. Or maybe this should be moved to the underused Steam thread?) Adding up the prices of some high end parts on Newegg (An Intel motherboard, a newer nVidia card, an Intel quad core, 8 GB of RAM and a 1080p monitor) came up to around $700, though I'm sure you could go cheaper than that and still have your games looking great. (But if you can afford it then whatever floats your boat!) I've recently resolved to do some good upgrading myself, after I get a job that is. It's out of the question right now though. |

Well, back to the Wii U, I was also thinking that while $300 would be the most comfortable and arguably the smartest price tag, Nintendo might go higher to capitalize on the launch hype and then settle down to 300 next year. Just think, if they charge $400 for the console at launch, will it still sell out through the holiday season? We can't know for sure, but probably so. But hopefully Nintendo won't do that to their most loyal fans and will go for quantity of sales rather than quantity of profit and get their new console into as many homes as they can to quickly build up a large market base for the software. |

That would be really arrogant of Nintendo, especially after they did something similar with the 3DS (and that failed.) This is why I keep saying that I hope they learned a lesson from the 3DS launch. How many people would impulse buy at $400? If they announced that as the launch price it would be the PS3 price reveal all over again. Casual gamers wouldn't buy it at that price and hardcore gamers would stick to/buy the cheaper PS3 or 360. But, I'm no expert analyst, this is just what I think. |

I could be wrong, but I also remember hearing Nintendo saying that they won't be selling the Wii U at a loss. They didn't say they'd sell for profit either, so I don't know how much inbetween there will be. My biggest thing with this whole price guessing is the tablet. Like we said previously, how much does it cost to make? That's the biggest mystery to me. We know its pretty close to PS3/360 quality terms, but not leaps and bounds different, so the tech is old enough to be practically as cheap as PS3/360. Which is why there's no reason for the console itself to be any more than the competition. . .but that darn gamepad! |

So it seems some of the Wii U specs have been revealed. I've seen two sites mention it having 1 GB of RAM (the 360 has 512 MB and the PS3 has 256 MB) and an AMD series 7 GPU that can do DirectX 10 (Well, whatever the OpenGL equivalent would be, DirectX is a Microsoft thing.) Here's one of the sites. So I guess this is pointing to it being more powerful than the 360 after all? The amount of RAM in particular is a huge improvement over the 360 and PS3. |
