Just curious, I had a discussion with someone earlier today that made me think about this in a bit of depth. The person in question and I were talking about how Valve's continued silence on the Episode 3 is only hurting them at this point. While I am confident the game will sell gangbusters when it does finally see the light of day, this did get my thinking. I too no longer really care when the game comes out cause unless nothing else is coming out I probably won't buy it right away. (Unless its really affordable at launch, or they do some kinda Orange Box 2*) To put that into perspective, if say Valve said tomorrow it was coming out for sure the same day at Bioshock Infinite, well sorry Mr. Newell but you took too long so I'm going to Columbia! How important/hyped/whatever are you for this game? *Which I suppose is possible considering. If I remember right Orange Box was an "apology" for taking so long with Episode 2. With the Orange Box 2 containing IDK, a new Left 4 Dead and some new IP they got from an art school like they did with Portal. Edited by Einar T., Apr 28 2012, 11:26 PM.

It's been so long since I have played Half-Life 2, I've pretty much lost interest in waiting for Ep. 3. I'm sure once it comes out, I'll buy it eventually. It's not going to be a priority though. If they released it this holiday season, it'll probably get pushed off until next year for me. I'd like to play it eventually, but it'll have to wait. |

I'm not the best person to ask this question, considering I've owned/played both Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 but never beaten either. So naturally for me, it wouldn't bother me at all if this game came out tomorrow or a decade from now. However, thinking from a fan's point of view, I agree that the longer they take the more disservice they're doing to the community. I'm not even sure what's taking so long. Are they perfecting it? Have they not worked on it for two years? Was it put on the backburner for Left 4 Dead and Portal? I'm not sure, but not talking about it at all sure as heck isn't doing anything for their fans. Gabe Newell could package a dead rat and call it Half Life 3/Half Life 2 Episode 3 and Valve fans would buy it in the millions, but as the video game community as a whole saying nothing is probably hurting them. |

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.

I want it because I love Half-Life and want more of it. I'll buy it if it comes out, but I am annoyed at the lack of information about it. It's not killing me though. |
