Hmm, HMS, you may be the first person I've seen who's disappointed that this was given to Abrams (unless you count those who believe it flat out wrong to give direction of both Trek and Star Wars to the same guy, which I can understand). When the Disney purchase and episode VII were announced I was like 'oh no, what has this world come to!' , but when Abrams was put at the head of things I was with those thinking 'well if anyone can pull this off right, it should be J.J. Abrams.' I have confidence that the writer of Lost, Super 8, Fringe, and writer/producer/director of many more great movies and shows, will bring us a great Star Wars movie, but at the same time I'm still a bit skeptical and a little afraid of what may come out of all this.

Yeah that happens to me sometimes :P (disagreeing with the majority)

I don't hate Abrams or anything like that, in fact, I don't think I dislike any of his films, but at the same time I don't like 'em THAT much either (if that makes sense xD). For example, I didn't think Super 8 was that bad, but I actually disliked a lot of the alien stuff I actually liked the kids filming a zombie movie stuff much more and wish that was the central part of the movie xD (again, going against the majority *raises fist into the air* :P). And I thought Star Trek was pretty good, but to be honest, I wasn't a fan of Star Trek before that so I went in it with no expectations or knowledge on the franchise.

So over all, I just wish for such a monumental franchise that somebody who's work I like a little better got chosen but at the same time I'm not devastated. I'm still going to see it with a very open mind, and heck, I'll probably enjoy it. They may not be amazing but I still enjoy most of the prequels.

His movie may be awesome, or it might even be terrible, but I highly doubt he'll ruin Star Wars or anything extreme like that! So there's that!

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
Look at it like this, however it turns out, it can't be worse than Episode II!

Haha, yeah, I can see where you're coming from Dragon, but I still hold a little fear for the worst.

And @HMS, opinion well spoken. Likewise I wasn't a fan of Star Trek before either and I too went in it with no expectations or knowledge on the franchise, but was pleasantly surprised with the film. So yeah, at least there's the doubt that he'll ruin everything :)

So LucasArts is no more. Disney got rid of it. I guess Star Wars games will be handled by other devs? I guess it'll work. What about that Zombies Ate my Neighbors sequel I have always wanted? Oh well.

Pretty sad to hear.

I mean, for the past few years they hadn't really been doing anything significant. The biggest thing they did was The Force Unleashed, but then they released a sequel that nearly ruined the first game I hear.

But at least they'll be around in spirit and there's hope that their franchises can live on in other people's homes.

Worst-case scenario: Disney will sit on the non-SW IPs for eternity and never do anything with them :(
