I'm sure we are all aware, Sony is having a press conference supposedly to reveal the PS4. I decided to make a thread since its sure to happen anyway so here it is :p

Personally speaking, I'll read about it later but I am done with Sony and Microsoft consoles. I'll be switching to PC hopefully this summer when I get a new computer!

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
I saw a portion of the stream. It'll have 8 GB of RAM shared between the GPU and CPU and be able to run Unreal Engine 4, among other things I'm not remembering. There's also a lot of third-parties backing it.

It's exciting finally seeing it after 7 years of the PS3 (and 8 for the 360), of course it's far too early to for me to decide if I'm interested in it. Heck, I still haven't gotten a PS3. :p

I'm also kind of having doubts about multi-platform titles between the PS4 and Wii U. So far I think the PS4 might be too far ahead of the Wii U in terms of power. Then again, I think Watch Dogs is coming out on the PS4 and that's been confirmed for Wii U recently.

Watchdogs is coming out on PS3/360/WiiU/PS4 and most likely Microsoft's new console if it launches this year. So it's definitely a current gen game that's getting some extra polish on the Wii U and PS4.

To be honest, it's really hard to judge the Wii U's future until the PS4/Next Xbox are out. The PS4 has a lot of nice tech in it, but at the same time, what if the next Xbox doesn't come close? Only 1st party titles will take advantage of the extra strength.

That was Sony's problem this time around. They had the superior console in most regards besides RAM, but in the end it actually hurt them because 3rd parties won't take advantage of that kind of stuff if they're also working on a 360 port.

I think the Wii U will be able to get quite a bit of 3rd party support, but it does seem likely that they may miss out on some opportunities, especially in the near future.

I do find it humorous that a lot of announcements at the conference were ports like Diablo III, Watchdogs, Bungie's Destiny, etc. People gave the Wii U a lot of flack for getting ports, but I wonder if people will hold PS4 to the same standards (I personally don't care, I don't mind ports, especially if they come out around the same time, the more the merrier!)

But I still got quite a bit of catching up to do with all the news, but so far, I like what I see.

If the console is this $599 US dollars bull crap, I'll just do what I did with the PS3 and wait. But this time around I'm definitely skipping what ever Microsoft offers, even if it's cheaper.

The 8 GB of RAM will definitely come in handy later, and the thing devs have wanted most out of the next consoles was more RAM. And I believe the next Xbox will also have 8 GB from what I've been hearing about it. Also, Destiny is a port? I heard a bit about it but from the sounds of it, it seemed like it was targeted towards next gen systems. I could be wrong.

Yeah, it's a port, the game is available for pre order at gamestop now: http://www.gamestop.com/collection/destiny

Although it apparently won't be out till 2014.

I was asleep during the press conference, but I looked up some things. It's kind of what I was expecting. Graphics look good. I hear there is no PS3 backwards compatibility. Is that correct? Kind of weak, but I guess not too serious a deal. There's still info I need, but I'm sure ill be getting one eventually. I didn't get the PS3 until they came out with the MGS4 bundle. I'll probably wait until they come out with a bundle like I did last time.

I just read that, yes all ps3 and psn will not work with ps4 but may get put on the system later digitally. Sony is also dodging the question "will it play used games?"

Sadly like I said last night, really not interested in the system.

I read last night that it'll be able to stream PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, I guess like Onlive if you've ever seen/used that.

And my interest in this depends entirely on what exclusives it'll get...like with Nintendo really. For the next Xbox, like with the 360 most of its games will probably end up on PC anyway.

EDIT: It will play used games. I knew that rumor was a load, just like it was with the PS3.

Thats good, sadly though the Ps3 titles will come later though. The architecture of the Cell processor is going to hold back PS3 and PSN titles at the start. And Sadly the system will have no compatibility with disc based PS3 games at all.

Sad times.

I don't blame them for the lack of BC. This console will likely be expensive enough as it is, adding PS3 parts so it could play PS3 discs would jack up the price even more. Plus, the PS3 has been out for 7 years, I think almost everyone who wants to play PS3 games already has a PS3.

Your PSN downloads not transferring though? Very lame, though I guess it has to do with the lack BC again.
