We've been discussing it throughout threads, mostly E3 and Nintendo Direct related stuff, but I think it deserves its own thread! It recently made a big splash at the New York Comic Con today with a brand new trailer and some new details!

I'm REALLY digging the art style. I love it even. A few of the models even give me a case of the nostalgias for the Nintendo 64 games. Each video I see it gets better and better!

Aonuma also said during a Q&A he did at the con that the Majora's Mask we saw in the item shop is more than just a cameo and we'll have to beat the game to find out what's up. DARN YOU TEASERS!

They also showed off the "other world" and its aptly named. . .(I guess I'll put it in spoilers even though its in the trailers and Nintendo tweeted it too)

I'm a bit in my cups at the moment.
I'm cautiously optimistic...I was let down by Phantom Hourglass but as long as this doesn't have some annoying dungeon you need to go back to constantly, I'm sure I'll like this.

Both DS Zelda games were terrible. Hopefully this is a return to form.

The only beef I had with Phantom Hourglass was forcing the touch screen controls on you. Everything else was okay, even the "main" dungeon mechanic. I especially enjoyed sailing in it. Almost more so than Wind Waker's. Mostly because there was more to do going from destination from destination. Wind Waker had its own charm and sense of adventure that wasn't matched though. Also, Boomeranging was fun :P.

I'm only a few hours into Spirit Choo-Choo so I can't really comment on that, but it seems to be a better step.

EDIT: Just want to make clear that I didn't think PH was amazing. It's probably one of my least favorite Zelda titles, but I don't think it was awful or terrible by any means. Emphasis on the "okay" part of my post :P.

But yeah, it should be fairly evident from the trailers that this is taking after Link to the Past more than the other handheld games, so I don't think there's too much to fear. This should be a basic Zelda adventure with some new mechanics in it to shake things up, but not totally change it up. At least that's what it looks like thus far. Can't wait to try it out.

I actually -loved- having a main dungeon to keep going back to. It was challenging, often very hard towards the end, and getting deeper each time was a lot of fun. Spirit Tracks is one of my favorite Zelda games, but it's always your-mileage-may-vary because I hate Skyward Sword and a lot of people seem to like it.

Anyways, moving on to the new Zelda 3DS game, I love the Link look for this game. This is Link. Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Maks, Twilight Princess...none of those felt like Link to me. This Link reminds me of Link's Awakening and a Link to the Past Link (for obvious reasons), and I am so happy to see this return to nostalgia. The gameplay looks really engaging and the graphics do look appealing (the day we stop having overhead dungeon games like this will be a sad day and I hope it never comes).

A lot of people I've seen are complaining about how the new dungeon clearing method is going to be gimmicky and take away from the feel you get when exploring the Zelda overworld, but I don't think Nintendo is that stupid. I'm sure exploring the overworld will be as fun as ever and that things will still happen to surprise players. I'm not sure about the rest, but I have a lot of faith in this game.

I would love for this Link to appear in Smash as an alt for Toon Link.

As far as the new methods in clearing a dungeon, I wasn't too crazy on the idea (I didn't hate it at all, I just wasn't in love with it), but at the same time I'm just glad they're trying something new so I'm excited to see how it goes. And allowing you to do that really makes it feel like the very first Zelda game, how you could clear pretty much all the dungeons save for the last one whenever you wanted.
