Hello There! Because of the recent Injury plague sweeping over WWE's Brands recently, and the mis-pushing of talent as of late; I felt compelled to write another of these short blogs. Today, I am going to look the Championships of the WWE, and where (if at all), there lie serious challengers. WWE Championship (RAW) - This Championship Picture is the most important within the WWE, and It does seem a little tired and out of storylines. The Great Khali has just been booked into another Pay-per-view main event with John Cena, and Its beginning to look like WWE don't want us to buy their shows. The Great Khali's promos are truly the cure for insomnia, and his matches aren't exactly any better. Speaking of the cure for Insomnia, another of the world's most boring men, Randy Orton, appeared on Raw this week to deliver another 5 minute monologue packed with such excitement that I temporarily lost consciousness. I guess the only decent thing to come out of Khali's recent push is that Randy Snore-ton isn't being featured in the main events. Another likely challenger after One Night Stand is Gene Snitsky, who is soon to complete his move from ECW into a monster heel push on Raw. World Heavyweight Championship (Smackdown) - Another Important Section of a WWE Pay-per-view line-up is Smackdown's main event. With recent Injuries to Ken Kennedy, King Booker, Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker, this has been looking a little desperate as of late. The decision to have Edge winning the World Championship hasn't really refreshed the division at all, and with Batista looking like the only real challenger at the moment, the title picture on Smackdown has dried up to virtually nothing. I feel WWE should be prepared to push new superstars during this period of desperation for Smackdown; and Benoit and MVP's recent matches with each other ought to line them up with the fringes of the main event picture...and Where the hell is Kane? ECW World Championship (ECW) - All the Originals are dissapearing and the talented superstars on this show are being forced to mid-card to a stiff bodybuilder and a 63 year old man with no real creative storyline. There really is nothing else to say about the ECW title at the moment. WWE clearly don't feel the likes of CM Punk and Elijah Burke are ready, and they don't seem willing to take a chance...so Lashley/McMahon parts 5-190000 it is then. I really do despair at times. WWE Intercontinental Championship (RAW) - I am still despairing. The degradation of WWE's once prestigious Championship has sent Pat Patterson off spinning in his grave, and I dont even know that he's dead yet. The oxymoronically titled "WWE Creative" have really scored an own goal with the whole Santino Marella storyline. I lost all interest in this character as soon as I seen him, and his stereotypical gimmick promos have probably led a few others to do the same. So, lets look at the Challengers. Chris Masters, ....., ..... ahh who'm I kidding, It's only Chris Masters in the title picture. Looking at the plethora of mid-card talent on RAW, including Kenny Dykstra, Jeff Hardy, Johnny Nitro, Shelton Benjamin, Ric Flair and Carlito, it really is hard to see how the Intercontinental Championship isn't a healthy looking division. Although with Flair and Carlito locked in a nothing feud and Hardy holding the World Tag Title, it would appear only Johnny Nitro and Dykstra could mount a heel challenge.....and yet they've been relegated to HeAT?! Why Creative, Why?!?!!?! WWE United States Championship (Smackdown) - Finally, things are looking a little brighter. Chris Benoit and MVP have been locked in a great feud with some exciting and technically strong contests but again, this could become boring after a while if it goes any longer. Bringing Kane, Matt Hardy or Finlay into the United States Championship picture makes a lot of sense but again, SmackDown creative seem to ignore everything outside the main event. I'm despairing again. WWE Cruiserweight Championship (Smackdown) - Should be the WWE's Brightest division with the talent they have. Hideously under-used and misbooked constantly, I sometimes forget we have a crusierweight division. Come to think of it, who is the Cruiserweight Champion anyway? WWE Womens Championship (RAW) - Finally we are in danger of seeing women who Wrestle again!! Thankyou WWE, for finally giving us a Womens Wrestling division as opposed to a womens "stand around looking nice" division. Melina makes for a great womens champion, and the challengers such as Victoria, Candice Michelle and Mickie James, are refreshing a previously tired division. Long may it continue, proof WWE Creative can actually do something right - but then again, it still isn't making it to the pay-per-views World Tag Team Championship (RAW) - Finally we have a tag division again on RAW!!!!! The Hardys winning the Championship on April 2nd and launching into a feud with Cade and Murdoch has made for some entertaining mid-card action. Cade and Murdoch are really starting to get over with their Wrestling ability, and the Hardy's ability has improved immensely since they last held the titles in November 2001. We are in such desperate need of another strong team to compete in the division, and this week, Haas and Benjamin stepped up to the challenge. If WWE continue pushing this division, rather than allowing teams to slide away into HeAT again, the World Tag Championship could remain strong. WWE Tag Team Championship (Smackdown) - Does this division even still exist? We havent seen it on any Pay-per-views now in 3 months and One Night Stand does not look set to change that. For once, Raw's tag division looks far stronger than Smackdown's which now consists of pretty much two teams; Londrick and D&D. Would it kill them to get Regal and Taylor into this division as well rather than jobbing out to Kane with no purpose every single week? It does look like Londrick will be the only challengers though if we ever see this title defended again. And that concludes the reviewing. Goodnight. |
