Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to this look at WWE Vengeance tomorrow night. Now I know, with the amount of promotion that has occured for this show, or lack thereof, you'd be forgiven for not knowing this show was even taking place; however, it should be a solid show even if nobody is ordering it. It's worth noting this show could be filled with McMahon rubbish after Stephanie promised "Vengeance on the man who killed her father" . Wow, I guess the pay-per-view came at the right time of the summer for that reference, if she had promised to Bash the man who killed her father, summerslam him, or even have a one night stand with her father's killer, would it have had the same effect? Of course, given than it's ms. Levesque, she probably has had a one night stand with her father's killer at some point in her life anyway. After the McMadness is overlooked and ignored fully, this should be a fairly solid pay-per-view. 9 matches is a LOT for a 2hour 40 pay-per-view, which means some matches will obviously be relatively too short.

WWE Intercontinental title Match - Thought I'd get this match out the way first so I actually get to talk about something people care about in a moment. I think it's about time Santino dropped the IC belt and went to doing comedy vignettes as a pizza delivery man or something. Putting the belt back onto Umaga could be a turning point for rebuilding his character so buried by the late Vince McMahon angles. My Tip: Umaga via Pinfall

WWE Tag Team Championship match - Despite my comments above, it appears I'm still talking about a title nobody cares about. WWE Creative certainly don't seem to care about it, or else they'd have ensured there is more than two tag teams on the brand. Deuce and Domino are an average tag team, and the Major Bothers haven't exactly done anything yet, but could be good. This may as well be renamed the "Meh, Whatever match for the WWE Tag Titles". My Tip: Deuce and Domino via Pinfall

WWE Cruiserweight Championship match - Yes, apparantly this title does still exist, despite no evidence of this fact ever been present on weekly television. The permanently irritating Kerwin White, sorry, Chavo Guerrero, is capable of putting on a decent match with Jimmy Ying Yang, but this looks like being the shortest match on the card. I'd like to see this getting 10 minutes, in reality, they'll be looking at about 6-7mins to get their points across to the audience. I wish Creative would try getting a fluid match across to the fans in 7 minutes sometimes, then they'd realise how hard it is to look good when you're time-constrained, The only relief here is that Vickie Guerrero won't be at ringside because she's to busy not managing Smackdown. My Pick: Chavo Guerrero retains via pinfall

World Tag Team Championship Match - Wow, this match lines up like a World's Ugliest Man contest; however, whilst vastly unpleasant to look at, their wrestling matches as of late have been of a very high quality. Incidentally, I expect no less of them this time, and believe Cade and Murdoch, who really seem to excel when working with the Hardy's, can work as good a match as their previous two pay-per-view meetings, if not better. Whilst I'm glad to see this as the title match again on the pay-per-view, It is sad that "One Night Stand" seemed to refer to The World's Greatest Tagteam's pay-per-view career. If they give these guys 15mins again, I'm expecting great things here. My Pick: Cade and Murdoch via Pinfall, as the Hardys don't need the belts.

WWE Womens Championship Match - Should have happened at one night stand. Unfortunately that night we got a classless, pointless slopfest which did nothing for buyrate. Mind you, how were WWE to know, the proof is in the pudding as they say, no pun intended. Finally this weekend we get the one-on-one Candice/Melina match for the womens title. Candice has really worked hard this year to become a decent womens wrestler, and is now a credible challenger. Melina is also a tremendously atheletic champion, and after that botchfest on RAW monday night, they'll be determined to work hard to get themselves back over as top divas. Melina still has heat backstage though with her co-workers, and I think that will influence the booking of the title picture. My Pick: Candice Michelle via pinfall

ECW World Heavyweight Championship Match - Firstly, I'd like to point out that if WWE give this match 20 minutes and a high spot on the card, we may be looking at a classic match. Chris Benoit is probably the greatest technical wrestler living today, and CM Punk is a hell of a worker, and together, they can steal the show with a technical wrestling contest similar to that of Benoit/MVP at Wrestlemania. The ECW World title has been so defaced and demoralised in the past year since Big Show won the ECW world title on July 4th 2006, that this kind of fresh competition and technical wrestling will be a sight to behold. This division was seriously needing someone to hit the refresh button rather than the panic button for a change, and they have. My Tip: Chris Benoit via submission

WWE United States Championship - Another potential classic in the making. This is one of 3 or 4 matches I'm really exicted about on this show, and I feel this could be the match of the night by a long way given the opportunity. MVP has been working hard in recent weeks and has superceded mid-card status now to become 2nd heel on the brand to Edge. Ric Flair is 2nd face to Batista on Smackdown now, and so finally the US Championship isn't the midcard belt it was, but is now one of two main-event championships for the brand. If only RAW would give some meaning to their intercontinental title now, rather than having the pizza delivery man feuding with Jamal from 3 minute warning. My Pick: MVP via Pinfall

World Heavyweight Championship - This is a last chance match, originally termed a "Do or Die Match" until the chairman did and died in Wilkes-Barre three weeks ago. In other words, if Batista fails to win, he will never receieve another shot at the World title as long as Edge is champion. Surely this has to be an added incentive for the whole world to join in prayer for an Edge win? that being said, Batista sure has improved since Undertaker evaporated off the roster and he was left with the #1 Babyface slot. This Edge/Batista match at Judgment Day was poor. The match at One Night Stand was very good however, the stand-out contest on an otherwise average night of wrestling. I believe this can be a solid bout if Batista works and bumps hard like he has done on Smackdown against MVP recently. I await this match intently to see which form of Batista turns up, the hard-working, commited Batista, or Triple H's personal colonic irrigation, undedicated Batista. My Tip: Hard working Batista shows up, Batista wins via Disqualification to weasel away from the Stipulation.

WWE Championship Challenge Match - Wow, nothing screams "Thrown Together" quite like this contest. Whoever said that the main event of a pay-per-view needs even the remotest thread of storyline running through it at all? Clearly, nobody told the braintrust in Stamford this, as 5 guys with no rivalries or history with each other have been tossed together into one enormous clusterf**k of a contest just to get them all onto the show. I'm looking forward to seeing the return of King Booker, all hail him, to pay-per-view after the injury. He didn't look to rusty in the ring on monday night, so he should be good for the show this weekend. Randy Orton will no doubt find ways to applying restholds to all the other members of this contest, and send the audience into a state of catatonic trance in the process. Bobby Lashley's contribution to this pay-per-view should be acceptable as long as he is kept at least 6ft away from a microphone at all times during the live show. Then of course there's Mick Foley, who is in the match for absolutely no reason, and John Cena, who will end up overcoming all the odds again and hitting an FU on one of the heels for the cover whilst the others are down on the outside....... Sigh. I thought nothing could make less sense from a booking point of view than Cena vs Talentless Arsehole, so WWE Creative unscrewed the bar of idiocy and reinstalled it slightly higher to prove me wrong again. My Pick: John Cena hits the FU on King Booker with the other 3 men brawling on the outside, for the pinfall cover and retains the title around the 23mins mark.

That's all the pre-fight hype round-up heading into this Sunday's big pay-per-view. Enjoy Vengeance, and I'll be back here during the week with post-show thoughts on the night of the champions.
