Ladies and Gentlemen, I wish I had the words to write down what I feel, but I don't have the ability...there are no words to describe the unbearable loss that the professional wrestling world has fallen victim to in the last twenty-four hours. Again, if I'm not being as fluent or making as much sense as youd expect right now, I apologise, I have been watching wrestling for..more years than I'd care to admit to, and I have never had the misfortune to experience anything quite this tragic. I'll try and keep this brief as words are failing me right now. Following the very tragic and untimely events of this past weekend which occured in Georgia, the professional wrestling world has been left mourning the losses of an innocent child, a defenseless woman and a former World Heavweight Champion. Admittedly, given the evidence, many would state that Chris Benoit was an evil heinous man whos legacy should be buried along with him, however, he was quite clearly under the influence of steroids im convinced. Chris Benoit was a loving family man, I cannot ever imagine him doing this to his wife and children, and the doubt cast in the minds of everybody Im sure distressses the readers as much as it does myself. Regardless of this event, I will still remember Chris Benoit the way I did before the tragedy. Chris was the epitome of everything a professional wrestler should be throughout his 22 year illustrious legacy as one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. All of those characteristics which a true legend should possess.. Pride, commitment, passion, determination and desire... were personified in Chris Benoit. Even those who blast pro wrestling can see these characteristics as respectable for human society, and people should not forget this. The incredible rise of Chris Benoit, against all the odds, has served as a true personal inspiration to myself, and im sure to many others. For years, Chris was told he would never do it, that he would never be a world champion.... never achieve his goals. In Summer 1994, Chris made his US debut in a warm, damp bingo hall under Interstate 95 in South Philly in front of 900 fans and won them over immediately. Chris's legacy would later spread to WCW, where he met Nancy, his beloved wife. Benoit achieved relative success here, and then moved over to the place that by right he should never have been successful, the WWF. Chris was always a firm believer in commitment, dedication and hard work. Two decades of blood, sweat and tears, broken bones, personal crisis and emotiona heartbreak was finally paying off. Ten years after Chris's 1st appearance in that run down bingo hall, he was headlining WWE WrestleMania XX at the home of wrestling. Chris Benoit's pure drive and determination rose him up beyond the level expected of him, and broke through the glass ceiling based upon pure talent and sheer love of professional wrestling. Everybody will remember that night, March 14th 2004, for centuries to come.... The night that Chris Benoit finally, my God, FINALLY became the Heavyweight champion of this world. As proud as Chris was to be the champion of the world, the world was proud to have Chris Benoit as it's Champion. In closing, I'd like to offer my deepest condolences to the Benoit family and friends of the deceased. I will never forget this darkest of days when tragedy befell professional wrestling, and us all. I can only express comfort in the fact that Chris and Eddie are re-united now, with their personal demons exorcised. Nancy and Daniel Benoit are together and at peace now, and this is the only relief I can find at this most macabre moment in wrestling history With Deepest Sympathy Chris Benoit (1967-2007) Nancy Benoit (1964-2007) Daniel Benoit (2000-2007) In loving memory, may God rest their souls
