(Assault Rifle run forward melee)

this exact same firefight over and over is like the core of halo
and it is super boring

i think it's absurd bullets do less damage than melee attacks, that shit should really be toned down. a melee should be like a humiliation kill or something
"lol way to get killed with a punch to the face scrub"
or something

i guess i could try to get used to it and melee be the center of my strategy too but it just seems so god damn stupid

I don't really agree with everything Wings said, but being in the same position as him with this being my first Halo game, he does make some valid points. I mainly just posted it to see what you'd respond. Can't really say I was expecting that.

I do notice a core difference between your argument and his though. He's arguing that there are problems with the game that make it unbalanced. You don't refute that those problems exist, you just say that they're okay because it's Halo. Basically through your whole counter-rant, your only defense is that it's okay because it's Halo.

I suppose if I were in your position in that I was better at using all of the game's "eccentricities" to my advantage than most people I probably wouldn't care either. But I think the main problem Wings has with it is mine as well. He has good aim, he wins his gunfights, but he quickly realized it wasn't about that. It's not even about skill really. It's about Halo.

I guess I came into the series late with certain expectations from how everyone had talked about it for years, but nostalgia does crazy things to people. I thought it was going to be a balanced game, but that was my bad.

tl;dr: If Bungie was trying to make a Halo game, they succeeded. If they were trying to make a balanced game, they kind of failed.

I'm not anywhere close to trading it in like Wings is. I definitely still enjoy playing it because it's all new to me, and I am going to still try to get better at it than I already am. Maybe I just need lessons on how to be the cheapest player ever.

Shoot, melee,melee,Sticky. Repeat.

This is how the game is supposed to be. It's not "unbalanced" at all...at least in the sense you guys are using it in.

Playing any Halo game is about two things - Top Control (Or at least control of a particular area of the map) and Power Weapons.

Every match is a constant battle to get both of these. The reason a lot of people don't like this game, is because they're on the other end of these games. The side that doesn't get top control or power weapons. It's happened to me plenty of times. And it can be frustrating.

Halo is a team game though. The best way to play it is with friends and to work as a team. Playing like this and assuming you and your friends are decent, you'll almost never run into "problems" with the game.

Like I said, nades are perfectly fine and so is melee. So only problem with this game is the maps. Which will definitely be addressed in the coming months.

Oh yeah, I really can't wait until Black Ops. It's nothing against Halo at all. And I'll most definitely keep playing it after Black Ops comes out. I just want a change of pace. One shooter just doesn't cut it anymore.

Yeah, I don't even play Halo and I have zero problems with the grenades. If anything, I wish I had one more. Halo is harder to play than CoD, IMO. I like it. When I play it, I don't care about my stats, I just try to have fun.

Yup, that's what a lot of people like Wings need to start doing. Stats mean nothing in this game. You're not going to invest a week into this game and be amazing at it. So it's pointless to worry about that kind of stuff.

I can see why someone like Wings is worried about his stats, but not other people. Most people on this board aren't really that good at any shooter except for TF2. So unless it's TF2, just have fun. In Halo, I mostly pay big team battle.

And that is where the fun on this game is. Too bad the people I play with don't do the things that make the gametype fun. Indy wouldn't be my god damn gunner when I was flying a Falcon. :indy:

Thank god I have Bobble to drive for me when we play.

Yeah, I always find the fun. That's why I played Groundwar 90% of the time. Sure, it's not the best thing to play if you want to have a great K/D and/or you want to have a great winning percentage, but for me, it was the most fun I had in MW2. I tried a gamemode in Halo where it was 4v4.... whack.

Yeah it just seems to me like the people that constantly bitch about games are bitching because they get killed a lot. It's always a list of ways they hate to die...

"Weapons are too powerful"
"No balance"
"WTF GRENADES!!!!"

I've never heard anyone bitch about how easy it is to kill people or because "Man, we really beat their ass and capped that flag with the quickness". A game doesn't suck because you suck at it. Take it back, I hope you do. Have fun sucking at the next game thats not called TF2. Odds are if TF2 had a big community you would have sucked at it too, good thing only 200 people played that game.

Is call of duty a bad game because there's OMA+DC noob tubes?
No, it's just a different style of game.
Is call of duty a bad game because it promotes camping in a corner NO ONE should go to for any reason?
No, it's just a different style of game.

The only difference between halo and cod is that Bungie decides where you camp with a weapon, or rather, provide an incentive to camp that, rather than DERP I SPAWN WITH SNIPER LET ME SIT IN SPAWN.
I love both games, but for different reasons.
Apples and oranges.

There's not nearly the incentive to camp in Halo as there is in MW2. There are no killstreaks in Halo and it seems like Halo isn't as K/D heavy as MW2.

The core of halo is based around camping power weapons, and high ground.
And how is it not as KD heavy?
It's pretty much exactly the same, team slayer is 4v4 to 50 kills, same as MW2's team tactical, 4v4 to 50 kills.
BTB is 8v8 to 75 kills, ground war is 9v9 to 100.
The only difference there is MW2 shows you your other stats (assists, deaths) instead of just kills, and your stats aren't on leaderboards, but history shows leaderboards are a dumb idea since everyone will mod to the top. :\
