Apollo abruptly released her ankle and scrambled backwards, knocking his head painfully against the edge of the table behind him. He stammered, "I, um... I..." unable to form a coherent sentance as the ship lurched again before finally stabilizing as it broke atmo. Apollo gingerly climbed to his feet and focused on regulating his breathing. His balance was still somewhat shaky and he had to grab the table for extra support. "It's... I'm..." he stammered, silently cursing the English language for abandoning him in his time of need. He blushed and laughed nervously and walked towards the nearest door. He had no idea where he was going but he decided he would rather be anywhere but here for the moment. |

As Viktor moved through the street at calm pace he began to notice the nearby security forces moving in suspicious patterns. They might as well have been wearing great big flashing lights on their heads for how obvious they were being, Viktor spotted them moving to intercept as plain as day. His gaze panned slowly across the path ahead where three soldiers were spread throughout the crowd, waiting to stop his escape. Viktor did not question how they knew it was him, why they had found his position so quickly, he was solely focused on the fact that they were there and they were in his way. It wasn't just the uniforms and guns that gave them away, it was their surface thoughts too. Viktor only heard them as whispers, whispers that grew in anticipation, became malevolent as they shifted into position and stood out from the crowd, he could HEAR their intent to attack him. Making very little effort to avoid them, he was soon confronted by the soldier guarding the central area. He was lightly armoured and was armed with a rifle, the other two closed in and stood a few metres back, watching the exchange closely. The soldier placed his hand firmly on the young man's shoulder and looked at him grimly. "Kid, you're under arr--ugh!?-" caught completely off guard, the soldier had been the victim of a swift kick as the heel of Viktor's combat boot met his chin with a sickening crack as he was hurled onto his back. Before he had even hit the ground Viktor was off and running, the two officers pursued him through the crowd with their weapons drawn but they dared not fire at him while surrounded by so many people. Viktor was faster and easier able to navigate the crowded streets than the armoured men and was soon several metres ahead. Apparently however they had called for backup as, seemingly out of nowhere, he was spear tackled by a soldier and fell heavily to the ground. The two fought for the upper hand as the soldier hauled himself on top in an attempt to subdue the violently struggling young man. Eventually Viktor was able to knee his agressor in the stomach and suddenly he stopped struggling, looking down at his stomach where Viktor had forced a small knife between the gap in his armor. The dying man was then easily rolled off as Viktor retreated from the gaining soldiers. He hurried into an alley behind a vendor and backed against a refuse pile as he took his rifle from his back. He swung it violently as the first soldier rounded the corner, slamming him off his feet and then pointed it from his hip towards the second who froze in place. As Viktor stepped forwards the soldier raised his hands in surrender and slowly stepped back, fear evident in his eyes. "No, no...please no" he begged but there was no change in Viktor's expression, he had to kill this man. If he turned his back he would shoot him, if he left him he could call for back-up, it was a simple strategic decision and so the trigger was pulled, point blank from a sniper rifle ripped violently through the man as he crumpled to the floor. Back on the shuttle, Viktor's handler and the other officer were still waiting. The countdown time limit for Viktor's return was just above two minutes but neither were outwardly anxious and as it turned out, they had no reason to be as Viktor rounded a nearby corner and walked in quick, long strides towards the shuttle. As the door in the side opened to allow him entry, the female leaned out and helped him in. He was slightly bloodied from his tustle with the soldier but otherwise un-harmed and the woman guided him by the shoulders to a chair where she sat him down as the shuttle's engines rumbled to life. "You did very well today child" declared the woman as she sat beside him. The shuttle then lifted off and tilted skyward, blasting off into the blackness of space. |
