Just outside of Persephone's atmosphere, Viktor's ship had slowed to entrance speed and was preparing to come in for a landing. This is where Viktor had decided to begin his search for his target. The mission dossier had recommended Londinium, the target's homeworld, as his first destination to gather information on Mr. Roberts but Viktor had found a trail significantly less cold with the chance sighting on his previous mission, this was his last known location as of less than a full solar cycle ago and he was likely to catch up much faster tracking him from here. Unfortunately, Persephone was a messy place, many people and lots of comings and goings but Viktor was confident he would find this 'Apollo', truly, he had no choice, this was what he did. His nimble ship dipped below the clouds and circled the landing area once before setting down at the Eavesdown docks, Viktor wasted no time disembarking and heading off through the docks towards the shipyard. It was a risky move returning to a place where he had killed a man and injured and possibly killed more than one federal agent but Viktor was not one for subtlety and with a reasonable amount of immunity to the law he was not at all worried that anyone would recognise him. Viktor was dressed in a less conspicuous manner than his last visit, wearing black combat pants and boots with a fleece lined khaki jacket over the top of a rusty red colored shirt. His weaponry was also less obvious, consisting only of a pistol tucked under his belt behind his back and a knife strapped to his leg just below his knee. Within minutes Viktor had navigated the crowd and found himself at ground zero in the same shipyard that he had viewed from atop the nearby rooftop nearly a day previous. Viktor noted that basically nothing had changed, there was however an obvious indent of flat ground where the heavy bulk of a ship had recently been moved. "Can I help you sir?" a voice said from behind the young man, causing him to turn around to see a middle aged man rubbing his hands nervously together as he eyed him carefully. "What happened to Benson?" Viktor asked in a voice, mimicking that of someone feeling concern. Benson was the name of the man that he had killed and while he knew very well what had happened to him it was part of a very simple information gathering plan. "Killed, shot right through his head by a bunch of thieves" the new dealer bowed his head in dismay. "Thieves? That's awful!" said Viktor in a shocked voice, glancing around the shipyard "Well what did they take?" Viktor sounded absolutely appalled. "Well they stole the sequence chip for every ship in the yard but they only took one, it was a--" "Dragonfly, Zealous Star" Viktor interrupted, his voice deadpan and all emotion falling from his face as he made the connection, remembering the ship soaring meters above his head and the name emblazoned on the side. The ship dealer looked somewhat shocked at the sudden display of prior knowledge but was unable to articulate it in any way and simply stood there mildly dumbstruck. "Thankyou" said Viktor before turning and leaving the shipyard, now armed with more information. Viktor knew that Ashley Roberts was used to rich surroundings and likely hadn't simply settled down to a quiet life on some border world, his appearance at the shipyard meant there was a high probability that he was with the group that had taken the chance to make off with a ship of their very own. He had succeeded in confirming that only one ship had been stolen and so the chances of him being aboard that particular ship increased dramatically. Certainly, he could have simply left the yard on foot but he had not seen him anywhere on the ground as he left and it was a better lead than nothing when one considered that the alternative could set him at any place in the whole wide 'verse. And so, with this newfound knowledge Viktor set off to find the Zealous Star. |
