oo sorry I didnt really explain myself properly. I got jack in august, hes a terrier cross - he is the one in the picture under my name, robbie and holly are my family dogs - a border and a welsh. Jack is 4, Robbie is 7, holly is 14. He usually lives with me at university and we have just been visiting mum for christmas. Im confident when we go back home that he will be ok although I realise I have some training to do with him when he is on his lead - I think there was info on another thread about a 'watch me' command that will be useful. I just dont understand within why - if he is under the others within the pack- he thinks he has to initiate confrontations with other dogs. On the walk just now we saw a dog when they were all on the leads and I managed to get the attention of the other two and jack was like a mad barking idiot at the end of the lead - which he never usually does. Its as if jacks taken over robbies role at keeping dogs away and robbie is taking a back seat. But I thought it was the job of the pack leader to do the protecting  Im confused, but I thought some of you who are a bit more dog psychology savvy might have an answer. |
