ive always used nail clippers in the past and all my dogs have their nails done from birth so they are used to it.still i always had some owners who would bring their dogs to me for nail clipping well into their adult years as they were too scared to do it themselves and the dogs knew it so they played up.they never played me up as they knew i wouldnt stand for any nonsense and that the quieter they were the quicker it was done.ive never cut intot he quick as its easy to feel the quick as the inside of the nail starts to egt softer if you feel it woth your own nail and its hard to see it in dogs with black nails and for years i had dobermanns so im used ot cli[pping black nails.we used to sell dremels in our tool shops and one day i had the thought of using it instead of an engineers file which id use after clipping to smooth the nail off.the first few times i tried it the dogs were very reluctant but with rewards and persistence they got used to them and i have to say its so easy to use and so much better than a pair of clippers and file so i use it all the time now ;) |
