i think treats are meant to be given to reinforce the behaviour not to obtain it,im no training expert but i know everyone has their own ideas of what works best and if it works for you then thats the best method! ;) i started to take tiny pieces of cheese out with me when i first got razzle as a pup in order to make her come back to me in recall.i gave her a piece every now and then but not all the time as i knew she wouldnt enjoy her walks as she would be constantly looking back to me to see if i was going to recall her and give her a treat(terriers learn so quickly!) i dont take any with me now but every once in a while i will just to keep her on her toes and to let her know there will sometimes be a reward for good behaviour.so when i call her name im assured of her instant attention(shes VERY food orientated) i too saw this guy touch the dogs with his foot as a quick flick and knew instantly he wasnt kicking the dog but i also would think there will be idiots watching this who will misinterpret it and kick their dogs.theres a lot of stupid people out there and you can explain that it isnt a kick but a touch to remind the dog and they still wont get it! |
