Well guys, what can I say other than we got through it!

I can't say I enjoyed it per se, but I think the class helped me face my fears of Bob being with other dogs, and socialised Bob which was so important.

The teacher said it was going to be more hard work than usual with Bob being 9 months old, we've kinda missed that window of opportunity where he should ideally have been socialised earlier, but it can still work OK, just going to take longer!

He did really well, bless him considering it was his first time. :yay:

The teacher is really lovely and had a good chat with us before the class. During this Bob took great pleasure in producing awful stenches which floated up between us and the teacher .

I was relieved when she said we should never hit a dog, yes, they can be manhandled in the way that you can turn them round etc if they are naughty and grab their collar etc, she said the only time she would ever 'tap' a dog is if they went for you. She's amazing!

Bob was a bit of a kangaroo on the lead for the first 10 mins and barked quite a lot, but we were taught how to turn him round and say a sharp no! He really calmed down after that.

Anyway, we walked round the hall (mostly on 2 legs as he was trying to chase the minature Datschund in front) and stopped and Bob 'sat' with a little help from me! We tried the 'about turn' and the 'down' but it was all a bit too much for his first time. At one point he was more interested in the water bowl!

We had to cross the hall past other dogs and we even tried recall, you could tell that was the bit all owners dreaded! and my heart was in my mouth as the teacher let Bob off his lead, but he came to me for a treat, good boy!

After about 20 mins I could tell he had enough and as I was trying to get him to sit down, Bob did try and go for me. I tapped him on the nose but I think he was just frustrated and needed a poo (even though he had one right before the class!)

I was quite worried throughout the class that he would escape his collar as he is a bit of a Harry Houdini, and he was trying to do the 'reverse' thing, but he didn't in the end!

Phew! the most tiring half an hour for a while!

:crossedfingers: for next week!
