:ph43r: Once Dill has gone as far as he can on trials, he's already got an invitation to go ratting (and heelers are as good as terriers at that!) He's going to focus on trials for now though, to indulge his pastoral breed side a while longer ;)

If I were to get a working type of terrier I would expect it to work and be bred by a mating of proven worker to proven worker - otherwise what is the point and why call them 'terriers'? Much as I adore working Lakelands, Patterdales JRTs etc, I would only acquire one if I intended to work it and it was bred by a knowledgeable person who selected both sire and dam on working ability and soundness.

(of course, if it showed no aptitude whatsoever, it could still sit on my knee by the fire - but at least I would not be lining the pockets of someone just out to make a quick buck or flood an already saturated pet market!)
