I prefer not to use aversives on puppies, simply because they can carry anything they consider traumatic right through their lives. It sounds as if Twiglet is a perfectly normal puppy and I think she should be allowed to get on with that without being sprayed with anything. I wear gloves a lot around pups, so if they bite it doesn't hurt me and they don't get a reaction. If they aren't listening to a yelp/scream then no reaction is the best way to go. However, I do realise I don't have to live with one of these pups and I can close the door on 'mine' any time I like. |
