Never witnessed a reaction myself but stopped using pharmaceutical worming preparations 5 years ago after hearing of a similar reaction. Basically worming preparations contain a poison, it's in small quantities but dogs can and do, on occasion react to them. If it were me I'd take Sam back to the vets. If it is a reaction he needs to keep his fluid levels up but I'm sure it will all clear up quickly though.
