Two of our kennel walkers took Chancer out for the day. Here is their report ...

“Rob and I were lucky enough to take Chancer for a day out this weekend. We decided that as this was the first time we have taken her out for more than a walk, we would bring her to our house for lots of playing, nosing around and relaxing! She travelled extremely well in the car, giving Rob lots of cuddles on the way home. Once in the house, Chancer was well behaved - she had a nose around and seemed very relaxed almost straight away, even though it's probably been a while since she was in a house!

We spent lots of time playing and getting to know her better. The tuggie was a particular favourite, but we were really delighted to discover that Chancer has a special talent - playing fetch! With a little encouragement (and a couple of treats), Chancer would run and fetch a ball, drop it and even sit at the end while she waited for us to throw the ball again.

My parents popped round to say hello, and she was unfazed. She was very excited to see our cat, but we did keep them apart, as I think she would be too boisterous for our highly strung kitty! That said, we will try to bring them into closer contact (if the cat lets us!) on her next visit.

We went for a lovely long walk around our village. Chancer let us put her halti on with no problems at all (in contrast to the kennels, when the prospect of a walk is sometimes a bit too exciting for her to stay still!), was she was unfazed by passers-by and cars. She does react to cats and dogs, which confirms what we have known for a while, that further socialization is required. Chancer is a real people pleaser, but she clearly wasn't well socialized with other animals as a pup. So we will continue to walk her with Cassie, and on her next day out, will go somewhere a bit busier, to get her more used to other dogs.

We have lots of fab photos of Chancer on her day out, but due to our annoying MacBook am struggling to upload them! So I will email them to Lynne or Sharon and hopefully they will have more luck!

Looking forward to the next day out Chancer.....xxx”
