I've "groomed" (not really the word for it) a friend's elderly Cairn using 16" Mars Coat King and a decent pair of scissors. More of the coat king than the scissors and even with not knowing a great deal about either grooming or the subtle nuances of a Cairn trim she looked really pretty good and went on the win Veteran later that week at the local fun dog show.
Clippers take getting used to, it'sy easy to take hair off where you'd meant to leave it, especially in the early days - the coat king is much more forgiving. Best money I ever invested on grooming tools was the table arm, it's been worth it weight in gold and leaves both hand free.
Tafia, how does the coat king work ? does it take just the right amount of hair off ?
