Duncan's training class have asked us to teach our dog a trick over the next 4 weeks - something very simple like beg, roll over etc. Duncan's good at "walking" on his hind legs but not sure if this is something I should be encouraging. Could it damage him in any way to walk like this over short distance? Any other ideas for a simple trick I could try? Someone suggested "cover the eyes with paws" - how on earth would you do that??

There's some tips from JRM in my thread about teaching "speak". I taught Yoyo to roll over quite quickly, or you could perhaps try "take a bow" (easier to do if he likes play bowing with you).

Can you clicker train with him?

Toby loves learning new tricks (anything for food!). How about roll over, play dead, give paws or give 5, 10 and 20 (left, then right then both), wave, touch (could be a your hand, a cone, anything you ask him to touch), bow, walk back, spin, leg weave and Toby’s favourite (because he gets applause for it at obedience) is to jump through my legs!

Yep! He will also run out to a cone, touch it with his nose and come back to me, will close the door, retrieve Freddy the frog (soft toy) from a pile of other toys and speaks on command. I'm running out of things to teach him!

Buffy on the other hand will give her paw, she's far too busy to be learning tricks

OK show off! But I'm really impressed with Toby - must be exhausting to keep up with though!
