This has been really helpful thanks Dawn, I had been wondering what 'stripping' meant, now I know.

I realise that I may have done this in the past - or similar with our old wire haired JRT, found it very theraputic to sit there with her on my lap and bin beside me and 'pluck' her hairs, they seemed to come out quite easily and it did come up with a smoother tidier coat underneath. Did her wonders!! She seemed to enjoy it as well

I am getting diddy pictures too.

Right well Duncan still hasn't been stripped  I'm trying again myself and a few people have mentioned using chalk for a better grip? What sort of chalk and where do I get it from? If I give him something to chew on he's fine letting me have a go.Thanks.

Have you got a horsey shop near you?

Try the show chalk they use to tart up white bits of horses.

You can buy it in a block or loose.

This sort of thing

Chalk Powder

Just a quick note to add a web site that you may find useful for obtaining chalk. I sometimes use chalk when people bring BT's to us for stripping that have recently been bathed! I don't know why they feel the need to bath them for us and I do advise them not to if I remember! The website is www.allbrooks.co.uk. Orders can be placed over the internet and I think it's about £5 for a decent sized tub that should last a fair while. ;)

Thanks for that I use it on the horse too and a small pot doesn't last long.

My poor groomer frequently gets a fox poo smelling Dudley to strip as I know she doesn't want him bathed.
