Thinking about the It's me or the dog programme I realised that I'm guilty of giving leftovers to my 2 - pizza crust, toast crust, a bit of chicken that I leave especially for them and I realise that I probably do it far too often as Duncan needs to lose weight.Do you do the same? I know it's something that we're told in Obedience NEVER to do as it undermines our role as pack leaders so was interested to hear your opinions. Should I stop completely? Or is it OK now and again - obviously bearing in mind weight gain too.Think another problem for me is I don't have a table to sit at so end up eating off a tray on my lap at about the right level for the dogs to beg. Will have to buy a stool for the breakfast bar methinks.

I never ever feed them from my plate or the dinner table. There is nothing worse in my opinion than a dog who stares/cries all through a meal while it waits for it's titbits. Yoyo used to do it, as did Holly but they soon gave up and don't bother trying anymore.

Every Sunday when we have a roast dinner, the scraps of meat that are left along with all the vegetables are given to the dogs in their bowls along with an appropriate amount of their normal food, at the normal time. They do sometimes get a pizza crust, or a prawn cracker if we're having take-away, but not until we've completely finished ours :)

I have to be careful what Archie gets as most things either give him the squits or spotty skin! Doesn't stop him whining when I'm eating toast though  If I have a banana or other fruit I'll save the last bit and stick it in his kong.

I eat off a tray too (can't see the tv from the dining room!) and Archie lies on the floor looking miserable and huffing - do all BTs huff?!) until I've taken the tray away and he can get back up for cuddles!

BT's really can look miserable can't they never known another breed who can make you feel like a total heel even when they're having a great time.... I don't let mine beg, they don't get anything whilst I'm eating but I do give them bits after - either by hand or in their bowls.

Dudley is the worlds worst huffer.

He is also brillient at looking REALLY fed up. I'll try and get a picture so you can see what I mean.

O Laura I'm not really a bad Mum, he doesn't beg, except from my Mum, he just LOOKS at me from the other side of the room. I know he's doing it even if I can't see him.

Mine only ever get leftovers such as pasta, rice and vegetables if I've cooked too much!

They do get the dregs of my tea in the morning. I only noticed this morning that Buddy was being his usual "must keep busy" self and my two were sat at my feet waiting for me to put down my mug. I've given up sugar in my tea so they wouldn't get bad teeth  and have to remember who had the last dregs so that they get treated fairly!

Mine get anything and everything that is left, in their meal though, not off the plate.

Pip gets sent to lay down whilst we eat as the girls had a habit of feeding him under the table with the bits they did not like or want to eat, result a fat rolly dog. :yikes:
Now he only gets left over veg and meat if he is due a meal and it is mixed in with his norm food. i do cook an extra sausage or chicken breast and veg to keep in fridge to add to food, also brown rice. But i noticed that on the programme she did say this was ok.
