This is a lovely book about a JRT called Gannet and her journey back to her owner (Rose) after she was stolen. Although it's fiction, the fact that she is a stray for most of the story is quite an eye-opener to the harrowing journeys stray dogs find themselves on and the situations they must find themselves in. It takes you through the first few months of her life, from the night she was born all the way through her ordeal of being stolen and going from home to home, from London to Somerset and back to the kennels - and Rose.

A fantastic read, guaranteed to bring a tear to your eye - but just a small warning that Gannet is a working terrier so there are references to hunting throughout the book. There was only one part described in detail though, of the kill of a rabbit, but it was necessary to the story ;)

Highly recommended, if anyone would like to read it just ask!

Sounds good.

Perhaps we need to do the book thing again. I have Dudley too which is a great read but very hunting orientated but so funny.

Sounds like a good read - love the dog's name! Interesting that someone has chosed to write about a dog's theft - good to bring it to people's attentions.

I'd be up for another TT book relay if that's ok :)

500 mile walkies is excellent - even more so if you have walked any of the Coastal path and know the areas he's talking about.

This book has taken America by storm, selling thousands of copies.Saw a very good article in yesterday's Mail about it,looks like a great read.

Don't do what I did and think you're eyes have gone squiffy. A couple of the pages have been slightly double printed... :D I was reading it in the bath and thought I was getting too tired coz the print had gone blurry
