Missie has Kennel Cough. I was distraught, not understanding how she could have got it, but have done lots of reading up, and she could in all fairness has caught it anywhere. She was given a shot of cortiszone (sp?) by the vet, and both her and Alfie are on anti-biotics (alfie as a precaution). I am keeping them confined to the house and garden, not taken them out at all. The weekend at the stables was horrible without them, as I am so used to them being with me! She isn't coughing as much now - it is getting more and more infrequent.

Anyone else had experience of this, and can stress of moving home have been a factor?

Sorry she's got kennel cough but it's so easy to catch and she could have got in anywhere including the stables. Have you warned them all there as if people keep bringing their dogs to the stables it'll just go round and round.

Wht did your vet give a cortizone injection I thought that was a joint thing.

I've no experience of kennel cough but it is very easy to catch apparently.I "think" you can give them benylin if the cough becomes very irritating.

Archie has had KC a couple of times, but never been really poorly with it as I've heard some other dogs being. If he's particularly coughy I give him 5ml of kids benylin morning and night. He LOVES it and boings away while I get it ready

I have, of course, told everyone who owns dogs at the stables. She hasn't been up there since the cough became apparent, so far no others have shown signs (including Alfie).

I have no idea why the vet gave it - he said it was a steroid? Maybe I heard him wrong? I wasn't in the mood to question what he was giving her, as I was really quite worried at the time! Hearing words like "collapsing trachea / pheumonia" - thankfully he was saying she wasn't showing any signs of these!!

I tried to give her Buttercup syrup, but she turned her nose firmly up at it! Will perhaps try the benilyn, but it is getting better now. Worth keeping in the cupboard tho! Thanks for the idea.
